I was hoping when Spielberg signed a distribution deal with Disney, it would at least allow Disney to use Roger Rabbit in the parks again. I didn't think of the posibility a sequel!

Disney animation producer Don Hahn has told a British film magazine that the studio will follow its 3D conversion of Beauty and the Beast with a stereoscopic version of The Lion King.

“I’m actually trying to work out a 3D conversion of The Lion King. I’ll be doing that when I go back to the States in a couple of weeks,” Hahn told Empire. “It’s going to be spectacular – we will do a good job for ya! The technology is tremendous. We did A Nightmare Before Christmas a few years ago and Tim thought it was better than the original because it allows you to walk onto the set.”

The 3D version of Beauty and the Beast has been pushed back to some time in 2011, after originally being set to debut this past February. A new DVD edition and Blu-ray release of the movie, nominated for the best picture Oscar, is set to come out in October.

Hahn also said he’s involved with a sequel to the animation-live action pioneer Who Framed Roger Rabbit? And while he offered no details, he did drop a hint to Empire, saying that “if you’re a fan, pretty soon you’re going to be very, very, very happy.”

hmmmmmmm Might be interesting. Although I am hearing a lot of people say they are getting tired of every new movie coming out in 3D. I am sure they (the movie producers) know what they are doing, but there is such a thing as saturation....

Just my thoughts....

I'd love a sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I love that movie. And to have it in 3-D would be spectacular. While I like the 3-D attractions at WDW, the technology today, as displayed in Alice in Wonderland, is far superior. I love the illusion of being "in" the movie.

I was sitting by Echo Park at the Studio, waiting for the fireworks and looking at Hollywood and Vine. Above the restaurant is still the silhouette of Roger, from when he crashed through Eddie's window.

It got me thinking how the Roger Rabbit crew would be a great fit for the character meal at H&V. Leave breakfast and lunch for the pre-schoolers, and make the dinner theme Hollywood of the 20's with the main focus around Roger, Jessica and other characters from the new film. They could even use some of the streetmosphere characters from the park.

As for 3D, I can only watch for so long, as the 3D glasses with regular glasses just don't mix. I presume the in theater 3D films would be the same.

Now if disney brought an IMAX to DTD, that would intrigue me.
