I was wondering if anyone else is considering upgrading a WDW AP to a Disney Premier Passport for Tag-A-Venture.
My current WDW AP expires in March 7, 2011. I had renewed it in October using the DVC renewal rate, and got the three extra months. When I went to get my actual pass in December, they gave me the extra three months from the date I activated the pass instead of when I renewed it, so I really got an extra five months on my AP. I currently have an AP that only allows entry into the four main WDW parks.
Reading the blog on the Disney website, it looks like I can apply a GAD ticket (or a MYW ticket) towards the cost of the upgrade. I was originally going to use it to get FP at one of the parks on one of my WDW trips this year, but if I can put it towards the upgrade price, it could be worth my while to get the pass.
Here’s my breakdown of the cost:
Cost of Premier Passport: $725 (including tax)
Value of my AP and the GAD ticket: $450
Cost to upgrade to Premier Passport: $275
Looking at this years DL prices, to get a six day DL(assuming there is no discount available), it would be $214. So, for an extra $61 I could get have access to the water parks, and Disney Quest, and golf for the next year. I don’t normally get a WDW premium AP, as I don’t always go to the water parks and Disney Quest, but would go if I had the premium AP.
I know it’s a bit of a risk in that if for some reason I can’t go to DL next year, I’d be out the money, but it would have to be something big to keep me from going. And really, when you buy an AP, you always risk that you might not get your money’s worth if your situation changes and you don’t go as often as you normally would.
I’ll will only do this if I can definitely apply the GAD ticket to the upgrade cost.
Gotta love the Disney math!
