WL will always be cloase to my heart but I also have to be practical at times, LOL.... I have never given CS a fair shot, perhaps because when it opened I had been living in Az for 20 some yrs and was sick to death of the southwest theme. Now that we have been in Texas for 5 yrs, I am ready to reconsider  Have any of you stayed there and found it to be a good fit? I would love to hear your stories and impressions. It is a toss up between CS and POR/PORFQ. Any and all opinions would be most welcome.........Thanks guys.........A girl always has to have a trip in her mind, doesn't she??? LOL. :D

We have stayed at many resorts in WDW and we LOVE the CSR. In fact, we are going back there this year. My husband prefers this resort to the WL, although to me and the kids, WL probably just beats it out. The pool is great and the kids just love it. It is large and appropriate for the size of the resort. The bus service is the best at WDW (IMHO) and we never had a complaint about transportation in our 3 trips to the CSR. Although some have complained about it's "less than family feel" because it is a convention hotel - we NEVER felt that way and were very happy with the Disney magic at the resort! The resort is beautiful in the early morning and at night and the size of the resort allows for some peaceful morning and evening walks. We loved the Pepper Market - for us it was great for kids - mainly because each person can customize their menu choices and you don't have to wait at individual counters to pay for each meal like you do at the CBR. We thought the gratuity was a small price to pay for clean tables and freedom of choice!! On all of our trips we have been fortunate to stay in the Cabanas, so I do not have a frame of reference for those who complain about the distance of the Ranchos - I imagine if you want to fill your resort mug up at night - or just go over to El Centro, that can be a problem - we just haven't had to deal with that. In any event, this is my fave moderate (and I have stayed at them all). I hope that, for you, this is also a good choice! Enjoy!!

Thanks so much for the input. I have heard that casitas are closer in for less walking. Is this true? I have to consider stamina issues, unfortunately. That is one thing that has kept me from POR. :sun: :sun:

Lou-Ann -
For me, CSR and POFQ are tied as my favorites of the moderates. They are both very different from each other but there are somethings that they both have.
CSR has a good food court, and a sit down resturant that I just love. The theming is wonderful especially like LisaS said wonderful early morning and night. All the buses stop at El Centro before heading out -so you can catch a bus to the front if you are staying away from the central part of the resort. There is a spa right on site - this is the only moderate that offers that.
POFQ is small - fairly easy to get to everything without too much walking. I love the theming again beautiful at night and in the early morning. I am not so sure about the Food Court anymore but it was great before the last re-hab. The boat to DD and POR if that is running - there is just nothing better to me than to ride the boat down to DD - relaxing and fun!
Both resorts have had the friendliest, most helpful CM's as any resort we have stayed at including AKL. My favorite CM's are in the gift shops - so helpful with any and everything we needed.
Hope that helps!

LOL Lou-Ann!
We live in TX and laugh everytime we stay at CSR because it reminds us of Home. But with that said we love the place. The only thing I don't like is close is really not much of an option when you are there and headed to the food court. We have stayed there three times and found the rooms very pleasant and comfortable. Not very loud either!

Lou-Ann,
The WL is our family's most favorite resort so far, with the CSR being our favorite moderate.
Lisa's post could have been written by me, as we love the same things about CSR.
Our room was in the Cabana's area and we were steps away from the pool. So far my boys have rated this pool to be their favorite. I personally think the Casita's section if the prettiest section, and if you are loking for a short walk to El Centro this is it.
We also loved eating at the Pepper Market. There was a wide variety of food, and our portions were also so big, we split the meals. I also did not mind paying the 10% gratuity because our servers were always good, and iut really was not adding much to the bill.
We will be staying at the POFQ in two weeks and this will be a first time there for us. I can give you a comparison after we return if you'd like. I think we also have alot of pictures taken of CSR if you'd like, and let me know if you want any of POFQ. We are planning on checking out the food court at POFQ, so I can report to you on that also.
From my own experience I don't think you can go wrong at CSR.

Thanks so much. Your posts are very helpful. Briar Rose, whisch part of Texas are you in? It is interesting to see the different architecture in different parts. Here there is not one singel tile roof and most homes are brick so different from Arizona where every home has the pinl tile roof and it is wall to wall stucco. For a while I was so sick of it, but now kind of miss it. Both have their good points.
Sheryl, I would really appreciate the comparison of anything you can think of. Pictures are great as well, if they are not too much trouble.
Betsy Ann, thanks so much for the info about the busses and getting to the front.
Lisa, I enjoyed the info you sent as well.
You are all making me feel better about thinking about trying one of these. Your thoughtful comments have been so helpful. You gals have helped a lot. :sun: :tink: Thanks again.
This past trip we were on a budget and unf. couldn't get to stay at CSR (the kids would have preferred), but stayed at CBR... we got the Q&C vouchers from Hotwire shopping and saved alot buy going to the Pepper Market at CSR.... dinner meals could easily be split and satisfy even DH... including entree (w/veg&baked potatoe or rice), beverage (usually an iced cappucino or fruit smoothie) and yummy dessert (usually taken back to room) the vouchers were a true bargain ($11.50 each)... we traveled to CSR to eat dinner and then hopped a bus over to one of the parks...
you'll really enjoy it there.. bus transportation is VERY efficient and also if you stay at Cabanas 9B (I think) it's a quick stroll to EL Centro and over a bridge your at the dig site (main pool)
