Some mention was made a time back about a possible reopening of the sit down restaurant here after the remodeling. Has anyone heard anything further about this or is it closed for good??? :?:

We had never eaten there so I cannot comment. I do know that it seems silly to me for Disney to have an empty restaurant that could be generating income and is potentially keeping folks from staying there. if the food served didn't fly with the public then they need to revisit it and put sopmething else there.........DUH.......Am I the only one who feels this way???

Well, having had only one very brief stay in a moderate, can you tell me if the other moderates have sit down restaurants? Is this unusual for POFQ to not have one on site?

CSR has Maya Grill, PO-Riverside has Boatwrights and CBR has Shutters.........PO-French Quarter's Bonfamilies has been closed for several years.

Oh wait, I though Lou-ann was talking about Boatwrights! I never ate at the one at FQ!! I never even knew they had one. I do like Boatwrihts though
You are right though Louann, if they have a restaraunt, it would make sense to me to have it open!!

Thanks, Andy, i was aware that the others had restaurants and guess that is why I thought this one should be equal on all aspects. At the end of a day or if it is pouring down rain and you do not necessarily want to commute for a nice meal, I like to have something really handy without having to do the bus thing or move the car. Guess it is a personal preferance. I loved the look and smallness of this resort and wanted to have it all.The whole enchalada so to speak.....I know I am spoiled.........LOl.......

DH and I loved Bonfamilies. Before it closed we use to plan at least one meal there no matter which resort we stayed at. I was so sad when it closed and would love to have it reopen.

What Lou-Ann said!! I'm with you Lou-Ann. Sometimes I really like to not travel anywhere for dinner.
For our upcoming trip, I think I may have booked POFQ if Bonfamille were still there. I love that resort - size, ambiance, boat to DD, beignets!! Bonfamille made it complete. So welcoming, pleasant, unpretentious. We had a wonderful dinner there at 8 pm during our October trip followed by a boat ride to Downtown Disney.
The day we left, DD and I (the guys slept in) treated ourselves to the breakfast buffet which was the best! When Jose delivered the plate of warm beignets to our table, I remarked how much I loved them for breakfast each day. Jose said that the more powdered sugar you get on you - the more love you carry with you. We were overflowing that week!! :D
The restaurant was very busy both times we were there even during a slow time at WDW. I so hope any rumor to reopen is true!

oh yum Beignets - that's worth a trip alone : )

Considering how early the food court closes and the limited menu, it would be nice to have a restaurant onsite. I'm now sorry I didn't go there the first time I stayed there. I've heard how great the breakfast they used to serve was.

Anyone have any ideas as to how we might go about getting it back???

Probably writing letters is the only way short of leasing the space and reopening it yourself. >Sigh, I miss THAT restaurant.<

was this resaurant near the food court where the piano is?? If you walk in the main doors, it would be to your imediate left?? That is the only place I remember that was closed when we stayed there. I didnt pay much attention to it though.

Even though the sit down restaurant has closed FQ is still one of the best mods! The pool is great! My youngest loves the slide, we have to pry him off when it is time to leave!

Aside from the pool and slide.what makes this resort so special??

Lou Ann, I would say the size of the resort makes it special. It is smaller and thus easier to get around like a deluxe resort.

Thanks, Moley. It is good to know. I do have mobility issues and this would help.

For you, Lou Ann, ask for a room in Building 4. Your mobility issues qualify you for a closer in room. That building is ideally situated near the food court, parking lot, pool and bus stop. It is also a lovely location.
I'm glad to see French Quarter is still in the resort mix. Back in 2001, there was some doubt as to whether it would ever reopen. Now if they bring back the yummy Bonfamille's, it will be perfect.

There's also something very serene about it. The spanish style railings (Yup the 'French Quarter' actually has a spanish influence), the simple gardens. Even the children's playground has a quaint 'city park' look.
And how can you know love a place that gives it's streets names like Rue D' Baga
ETA: I love the jazz you hear in and around the main building.

Thanks so much for the input on this resort. I look forward to trying it one day soon.
