OK, so on with the DVC saga in Washington State.

(recap: we live in WA, we can't be solicited by DVC due to some dingy policy that the legislature put together)

I found out that as long as we have our docs mailed to a state the is "ok to deal with" and have a notary sign our paperwork (from an "ok" state) then we don't have to go to Florida to get into DVC. Sounds like a mess, but not really. We have a Montana address to get mail and we can drive 2.5 hours to Portland to sign paperwork!

As much as I would love to convince hubby that a quick weekend in WDW to sign on the DVC would be a great idea, our upcoming Tahiti trip willjust about take all the extra funds out for this year.

Now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well with the financing. We just refied our home and I hope that doesn't mess around much with our credit. :)

to be continued . . . ;) ;)

I hope all goes well for you, SuzyQ. We looked into Celebration when they only had model homes and got a letter in the mail that they couldn't sell to anyone from Massachusetts. We weren't sold on it anyway so we never pursued the reason why. It's great you found a way around the red tape.

Well, that is good Suzy! Glad you found a way around that protective Big Brother of yours! ;)

Let us know how it goes! It would be interesting to hear from someone else what they think about the DVC purchasing experience. (Even if it never makes it past the research stage, its interesting to see what you think about the program).

Good Luck!

Well, they are sending the paperwork for financing and all. It will be sent to MT and we will have it forwarded. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We have asked for 250 points. We are thinking that should be good for us as far as traveling down every year or (with kids) every other year. Is that about average point-wise? I have heard that "add-on" are quite addictive! ;)

LOL, yes the dreaded Add-on-itus can be a costly ailment!

Total points can be any amount that meets YOUR personal needs. Are you going with SSR then? A quick way to gauge your point needs is to use the point charts or my points calculator (easier to compare) and enter your desired trip dates. It will tell you the number of points needed for that trip.

There are lots of strategies for stretching points. Unit type. Staying only sun - thurs, skipping one weekend night, going in the 'off' season when point costs are less. Or, like many, you'll use points more on a weekly basis, and just get enough to stay one full week reguardless of the more points expensive weekends. Its all up to you!

We tend to skip out on weekends but LOVE those 1 bedroom units for our family Or we only stay one weekend night. Its a great way to get that front of the line perk at Universal, or this year we are staying near Seaworld to enjoy that park for a couple days. We love the flexibility of DVC and it can be quite entertaining to work through the difference scenarios to figure out the best plan! ;)

Can't wait to give you and Del a great big Welcome Home! :)

Thanks, Dave! (by the way, did you get my email re: our DVC rep?)

We are keeping up the prayers and pixie dust that all will work out! :mickey:

SuzyQ, it all sounds like it is falling into place for you. Will be keeping my fingers crossed as you work the issues and final details.

As an aside; the maintenance fees at OKW were what tipped us over the edge on choosing there as opposed to VWL or BCV (those were also available when we purchased our 240 points). We love the resort, but have had no problem moving over to any of the others at the 7 month window. As Dave noted, this might not always be an easy thing to do, but so far we have been able to stay where we wanted with no problems.

Best of luck again with your investigations and let us know what you finally come up with.
