"Philadelphia Story" is my favorite, of the few I've seen. Katharine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, and Cary Grant are all wonderful and the script gives them some good stuff to work with. Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert are also beautiful, charming, and witty in "It Happened One Night," another fave. And I adore the Spencer Tracy and Kate Hepburn flicks.
Do you have favorite romantic comedies of more recent vintage? (I have seen "You've Got Mail" and thought it was a snoozer. Apologies to any fans!)
Thanks in advance for your recommendations,

That was one! Your snoozer is one of my favorites! While You Were Sleeping is another favorite, too.

I rather liked Sleepless in Seattle! And anything with Katherine Hepburn was great! Why can't I be just like she was?

Breakfast at Tiffany's is definitely my favorite. I also love the re-make of Sabrina (with Harrison Ford).
I am a sap for the romantic comedies of my youth..."Say Anything" and "Pretty in Pink" are at the top of my list.
I am trying to think if we own any romantic comedies on DVD..and I don't think we do. We mostly watch SiFi, Disney and adventure (like Indiana Jones).

I love Philadelphia Story, but I love the musical version of it better, High Society, with Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Bing Crosby.
My favorite old time one is the original Sabrina. I liked the new one, but the old one is better. I love the last scene, when Bogey sends his hat out to Audey Hepburn to adjust, as his way of telling her he's on the ship. :-D
For something newer, I love Emma. (okay, the story is old, but the production is new! lol)

We went to see How to lose a guy in 10 days at the movie theater and it ws deffintly a romatic comedy. Or as my husband calls it a chick flick. It was pretty cuit though and left us very happy in the end. I have a feeling it should be coming out on Video soon as its been a coupe months since I saw it in the theaters.

I seldom watch romantic comedies (I prefer movies where stuff blows up), but I have caught a few on cable that turned out to be funny without being too sappy.
While You Were Sleeping is one of my favorites, because I love any movie that gives Sandra Bullock a chance to shine.
Notting Hill is full of funny moments and quirky characters, and has a story interesting enough to make me forget that I'm not a real fan of Julia Roberts.
Head Over Heels just caught my attention recently on cable. It's got more funny moments than you can shake a stick at. Although it does start off a tad slow, it ends with a bang.
Return To Me, staring David Duchovney (whose considerable comedic talents were totally wasted on X-Files all those years) and Minnie Driver, one of the most talented (not to mention cute and extremely funny) actresses in Hollywood, is an odd little story that should be depressing and plodding, but instead is full of laughs and will have you cheering out loud by the end.
Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail are the worst dissapointments in movie history. How can movies that star Tom Hanks and the woman who the word 'cute' was invented to describe, Meg Ryan, be so damn boring?!

The best romantic comedy of all times is Pillow Talk with Rock Hudson and Doris Day! :D :D :D

I can't believe no one has mentioned When Harry Met Sally. It should be on the list just from the lunch scene alone (sorry lol)
I'm also glad to hear that 'How to Lose a Man in 10 Days' isn't a bad flick either as apparently that will be the movie on our flight west. My guys aren't real enthused about this fact, but I'm looking forward to it.
For other movies, I too like the oldies. Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and even My Fair Lady.
Gonna have to go through the collection to see if there are more I could mention. Like WillCAD, around here blowing things up is the preferred event in movies, though DaGuyz do humor me and watch 'chick flicks' once in awhile. Believe it or not Dsorcerer actually likes Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes, although he wasn't too sure about Kate and Leopold.

I just can't decide which of the Terminator movies is my favorite romantic comedy.
Actually, I am a sap for romances and romantic comedies - I liked Sleepless in Seattle, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Although not a comedy, I really liked Strictly Ballroom - the roof top scene is one of my favorite scenes of all time.
