I am writing a brief note to apologize to everyone who showed up for the It's a Small World Meet and didn't get any of the goodies I promised.
I sent a parcel out Friday the 16th by Purolator Courier to arrive at the Boardwalk on Wed. the 21st before Nancy arrival Thursday.
Well, once again, we find out how much the US customs people hate me....lol
The box was held up at customs until the 20th, when they FINALLY called me to say there was a problem. Apparently, being honest and marking that there were prepackaged candy loot bags inside with prizes was a mistake, because by doing so, it needed me to have a FDA prior release form attached to it. Now this was easy to get, only took me about an hour over the phone to have the number assigned to the box so that it could be released, so why they didn't tell me on the 19th or even the 16th when they realized it, I will never understand.
So they get the number the morning of the 20th and PROMISE me that they will have it loaded into the truck that is on the dock asap.
Well, if you check out the tracking link here... http://www.purolator.ca/ (http://www.purolator.ca) and paste in the number 49979299820 you will see, it did not get right on the truck and then it seemed to stall in OH. So I call again and after it clears customs, Purolator hands off the packages to UPS. (they apparently outsource to each other when crossing the border) So I have to contact them and get a new tracking number. Check on it now at http://www.ups.com/ (http://www.ups.com) with tracking number 1Z66218R6819578102. So it still "looks" like it hasn't left OH but they claim it has. They have also magically changed the delivery date from the 21st the 26th. Well, the meet was on the 22 and Nancy will be checked out by the 26th so what good is that????????
I talked to 3 managers and they can not explain why the parcel won't be there until Monday but they can not figure out which truck it is on at the moment all though they assure me it is in transit. It can not be rushed now and will arrive Monday the 26th FOR SURE.
I tell them to stop the shipment at this point and return the box to me at no charge to me since this has been so royally messed up. The head of international shipping is calling me tomorrow to tell me when it will get back to me.
So all in all, this is what I am proposing....
If everyone who attended the meet could please inbox me thier names and home addresses, I will mail you regular post your goodies. Please don't say not to go to all that trouble, I have already purchased all these items to give everyone and they have your names on them.
Also, there were tickets and a figurine for a door prize, I will assign every attendee a ticket and do a draw here for the winner and send that out as well.
So please leave me your info in my inbox and I will get this all taken care of asap
I am sorry for the trouble and disappointment and thank you again to Nancy for taking over the meet, there is a special gift coming for you as well. (it's in the box too)
Moral to this story....I need to move to the states asap so that I can stop having to deal with the border people.
