View Full Version : Would you make a PS for just one person?

Originally I was going to make PS's at a few resturants during my trip, but now I'm wondering if I really need to. It will just be me and I'm going the first two weeks in December, which, as you know is the lowest number of people in the parks.
Is it better to just take my chances with a walk up dinner reservation? I know I'll be really flexible with when I eat so I could always go early or wait for a later seating.
I just don't want to go thru the trouble of making PS's if I don't have to and can just walk in.
What do you think?
TIA,
Sue

Hi Sue,
I am also traveling alone, this year from December 8-15, 2004, staying in POFQ. I always make priority seatings prior to my trips to ensure that I'll be able to eat where I want. I've never tried to eat in a WDW sit-down restaurant without a PS, but you don't need one for Cap'n Jack's Oyster bar (I'd said clam bar in another post on another website) in Downtown Disney Marketplace. I ate there on Friday, December 12, 2003 and had New England Clam Chowder soup, seafood pasta and chocolate lava cake for dessert. At $42.34 including tip, it wasn't cheap, but it was one of the best meals of my whole trip.

Hey Thumper!
I rarely make PS for a December trip before I get to WDW -sometimes I wait til I get to the park and most times I just walk up - never had a problem with that except at Epcot when CP is being performed - then it was next to impossible to walk up to the more popular places in the Showcase! Other than that you should be ok.
If you are interested in specific place at a specific time on a specfic day then it is always good to have PS whenever you go!
Have a great time!
I made ps ressies for all my meals in December and a few times at the more popular ones I walked right up and in while there were small lines - but still lines - waiting to get in - it was nice not having to wait - whatever you like to do is best - you'll have a great time - I ate a few snacks and had a beer at Dad's Tune In Lounge next door to Prime Time right at the bar and had a great chat with the bartender about what brought them to Orlando etc. have fun traveling solo - it's funtastic sometimes : )

Follow the same rule you would for any popular restaurant. Book it!
I couldn't get into Le Cellier in December, even with just one. Best not to take a chance on a restaurant you really want to try.

I'd do the PS for peak eating times. Remember you can still go up to the podium at an earlier time and try a walk-in. Just tell them about the later ressie so they can cancel it if you can be seated. Having a ressie is good insurance IMO.

Just a thought, there should be quite a few Taginators down in WDW at the same time as you for Mousefest. I am sure you'd have no problem finding someone else who is going solo (or a group or family looking to meet some online faces) who'd want to share a meal with you.

Thanks guys (and girls) for all your help !! :-)
Sounds like I should make reservations. I don't think I'll have too much trouble during that time, but it's always betters to be safe then sorry, right?
