So Much To Learn, So Little Time...

I bit the bullet and bought a new camera. I have been wanting a dSLR for quite a while now. After doing my homework and picking what was left of Lisa's brain, I settled on the Canon 50D kit with the 18 - 200mm IS lens. I have had it for 2 days now and am just loving it. But, there's just so much to learn before the big trip next week.

I have had 35mm film slr's for years and I would play with the manual settings on the Canon S3 all the time so I am familiar with the "workings" of "photography". I'm not totally overwhelmed or uncomfortable with the new toy.

So, I offer this as fair warning to all my upcoming cruise mates and future trip report readers. There will be a lot of pictures taken! I need the practice.

OK - I have been practicing real hard, but I'm running out of subjects around the house. The cats have become very uncooperative and Cathy threatens me.

As you can see, my Woody is kinda small so I think I may need to buy a good macro lense.

Purple Paper??? Which jewlery store is that. I know Tiffany's is light turquoise.

Actually it is a 32GB IPOD Touch...now I can fit all my music and more...yeah!!!!!

Congratulations John! You will love your new camera! Mine is the 40D and I also have the 18-200mm lens. That is an AWESOME lens. I just purchased the 1.4 50mm prime lens 2 days ago. It is sharp! Sometime down the road I what a macro lens. Yes, I too have a pretty good working knowledge of film slr's but, with the digital there is so much to learn. I just purchased an instructional DVD on the 40D. It should arrive Monday or Tuesday. I will let you know if it is worth the cash. Also, did you get the camera on line or from your local camera store? My local store offers all kind of free and paid photo classes. And the Canon rep will be in the area the end of September and will be offering a day class. Something to think about. Have fun!

Purple...Light Turquoise...when you're colorblind they are the same.
But the 32 Gig iPod Touch is great! I love my 8Gig.
