Went to see this on the weekend.

It is a coming of age movie, as they say. It is about an Indian girl named Jess living in London. She loves football (soccer) and her favorite player is ? Beckham (married to a Spice girl). Her dream is to become a famous player just like him.

A couple of problems with that though. #1 no professional girls soccer there, and #2 she is Indian and that is just not something she should be doing since she is a girl.

I really enjoyed it, with some funny moments. I happen to work with quite a diverse group of people and quite a few of them are Indian. It was interesting to see some of their customs and at times funny. I could definitely identify with the girl growing up in a changing world because I see that is so many of the children of the people I work with that are originally from other countries.

I would feel very comfortable recommending it for the ladies out there, and the pre-teen - teen girls. Not sure about the guys, but the theater was crowded and mostly older people - a guy on each side of me and both were laughing and enjoying the movie.

I'm not sure off hand what the rating is, but it does touch on people being gay (in one case not really, but a mix up), but not real specific. There is a scene or two in a bar, but mostly it is pretty wholesome. Definitely something I would tell my mother to go see.

Friends of mine saw this on Sunday and loved it - looks like a winner to me.
