Hi everyone!
Just booked a room at Coronado Springs for July. We've only stayed here once (back in 2001), and stayed in the Cabanas section, building 8A.
Does anyone have a favorite section.....and if so, why do you like it.
Also, how is the Pepper Market these days?

Thanks :mickey:

We stayed at CS last July and really loved this resort. Our first choice was also the Cabanas, and I believe it was 8A. We were literally steps aways from the pool, which was perfect for our family.

I know some folks don't care for the Pepper Market, but we really enjoyed it there. We learned real fast to not overorder. Most of the meals were so huge we split them. And this cut down on the cost of the food also. We enjoyed it so much that we are planning on going there this summer just to eat.

I would stay at this resort in a heartbeat, and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Hey Sheryl.
Thanks for the info about the Pepper Market. I didn't remember the food portions. My daughter is not a big eater so she and I should be able to split meals......that will save some money.
The Cabanas section was nice. It was a nice walk to get coffee in the mornings. We didn't use the pool on our first stay because it was rainy but this time we plan to spend the day we check out at the pool before we drive home.

T-Bell Oh we love the Coronado Springs!! We also prefer Cabanas and have stayed in 8A. The Pepper Market is a place we love. When we were last at WDW in 2002, we stayed at WL - - we made a special trip to CS just to eat at the Pepper Market. Sheryl, I didn't remember about the portion size, though and that is great advice!! T-Bell, We will also be at CS in July - July 29 - Aug 6. Will we be seeing you there???

How would you guys compare this resort to the POR? We are thinking of trying a moderate in December. Thanks for the input. By the way we love the Pepper Market as well.

LouAnn,

I can tell you after July 17th. As much as we love CS, we also want to try all teh resorts. And since we will probably stay at CS next year with my sister and her family for part of our stay, we thought we'd try POFQ this summer for our first week. I'm really torn because w elove CS so much, but feel i need to at least try the others.

Lou Ann - This is usually a matter of personal preference. My assessment is based on my clear preference for the CSR. I have stayed at both resorts, although admittedly, not at the POFQ since 1994. I strongly prefer the CSR.

Now, having said that, here are some of the things to consider:

POFQ - just had all of the rooms refurbished - nice.
POFQ - much smaller resort - easier to get around. No room is too far from the pool and food court or buses.
Also, there is a boat launch to Downtown Disney - this is a nice feature.

As far as theming, I prefer the CSR - I love the southwestern feel - I prefer that to the "mardi-gras" theme which I find too gaudy and not relaxing at all. The lake which sits in the middle of the CSR is peaceful and provides a beautiful peaceful focal point - there are hammocks located on the beach around Lago Dorado and there is also a dock for rental of water mice and boats. The lake is beautiful at sunrise and sunset also. If you like to walk or jog, the paths around the CSR provide ample opportunity. My children prefer the pool at the CSR - they are 14 and 10 and think that the pool is much more fun. The slide at the POFQ is a little too tame for them. I also think the bus service from the CSR is the best of any resort. We have stayed at other resorts, including some deluxes and I have found the bus service from CSR to be the best by far!

As for the Pepper Market, if you are already familiar with it, you know about the choice and variety. I particularly love that we can all choose a different type of food and not have to wait on individual lines. The choices far surpass the choice at the POFQ.

Well, that is my view, Lou-Ann - I am sure that others have a differing point of view - many people love the POFQ - it just isn't my choice!! On every count, I think the CSR is the best choice for my family!! Good luck choosing, because no matter what you decide, you will be at WDW - and life doesn't get any better than that!!

You just made it really hard. CSR and POFQ are my two favorite resorts. Both for different reasons.

Both have great pools but CSR may have a slight edge.
Both have great themes but POFQ may have a slight edge.
Both have good bus service.
POFQ has a boat to DD which is great.
Both have good foodcourts but a big edge to CSR.
POFQ is small and easy to get anywhere without too much walking
CSR is huge and where you stay may make or break your impression of the resort.
CSR has a nice sit down resturant and a spa right on site.
POFQ has a nice sit down but it is located at POR - a nice boat ride or bus ride away.

If I had to choose one over the other I would just toss a coin for I like them both.

I have always been a big fan of both CS & POR but last year left a bad taste in my mouth for CS. Rooms were just not up to par, we had 2 connecting rooms & they were both very dirty. The tubs in both even after housekeeping cleaned were dirty looking to me. CS & POR are both very large resorts but CS seems to be worse if you get a room in the back area of the Ranchos. Bus service at CS is however great & the Pepper Market is a step above other Food Courts. Lots of food on real plates but you do have to pay the 10% surcharge here. Great main pool. Cabanas are my favorite area as they are centrally located to everything. POR is still a favorite of mine after all these years. I love the Mansions, they are just so darn pretty. Great main pool here also. Good Food Court & usually good bus service. Added plus is the boat to Downtown Disney, I love it. I think you will be happy at either, good luck deciding.

Hey LisaS.....sorry I'm so late in replying. No, you won't see us there. We're only staying for 1 night....July 17th.

We love POFQ! It's our favorite moderate resort (we've stayed at all 4). We're only staying at Coronado because it's right down the street from Blizzard Beach.
POFQ is so charming and compact. I love the fact that no matter which side of the resort you're staying in, the food court and pool seem like they're "right there". My daughter loves POFQ's pool because of the slide.
POR(we still call it Dixie Landings) is nice but spread out. We've only stayed here once....back in Dec of 2000. We didn't swim because it was too cold for our Florida blood
I love the fact that both resorts are on the waterway to DTD. I also love walking along the path beside the water in the late afternoon.

If we were staying more than one night, we would stay at POFQ over the other moderates..

Cheryl, we stayed in the Cabanas & I think the same section as mentioned. Ariel LOVED that pool and we didn't actually sit down and eat at the Pepper Market, we just took out. Transportation was pretty efficient and I'm sure you're going to love it there :D
