Just thought we might should know how many people are thinking about doing this race. Want to make sure we don't schedule things on top of each other or don't schedule things because we think we have people interested in the race and we don't.
ETA: Here is what I can figure out at this point - The race has not been officially listed yet on Disney site- that I can tell. It is an night time race - traditionally starting around 9 pm or 10 pm. You have to purchase a ticket to be in the "party" to be able to cheer. No cheerleaders allowed on the track. The race has been on road and off road so there are different surfaces to run on. It is a 13K.

I would love to try this, as I think it would be a great accomplishment for me, but I've never been a distance runner... but if other Tags are going to do this, I would be willing to give it a whirl if my friends are doing it, too.
Do people run and walk these things????

I will in all probability do the race- unless they charge an arm and a leg to enter! The medal is soooooo kool.

I will for sure be doing this race. It will be my first ever marathon and I am training already.
I am up to walking 5 km a day. 7 is my next goal.
so count me in!

Yep, that's all I do... walk 3 min, run 1 min. At the race I probably end up running around one third of it. Disney does have a time limit, but it's very doable for you!! AND... like Pam said, It's an awesome medal. One of my favorites!

Free weeklong all park Fast Passes for the first one to reach the castle at opening? :peri: :letsgo:
Brinn is very much interested in doing this, but I don't think she really GETS how far 13K is... but better than 13 miles! Or 26! :yikes: I'd love to see pictures of the medal and hear an accounting from some that have done this race in the past. What to tell her and how to convince her that *I* don't have to do it with her! :D

Awesome! If I can make it happen budget-wise, I'm in! :)

Just a FYI for those that are considering this and are unsure of how far 13 kilomerters is. It's a little less than 8.1 miles.

For me, this will be a no. The nightime race was not my favorite. AND this will be Saturday night, right? and that means Party for Your Senses if I am there with DH. So after the Party we will go to the party at DHS!

Take her for an 8 mile bike/car ride. The race is on a hard surface most of the way- but does cut through the woods by WWOS and across/around the fields there- mostly on sidewalks/roadways if I remember correctly. I really didn't realize there was as much backstage at DHS as we went through for TOT (part of that could be my knee was killing me.) She's welcome to hang with me if I do the race.

Do you know what the time Disney has for this is? I know I could probably do 8 miles no problem, but would need to pick up my pace.

usually they have a 16 minute mile pace. No promises until they announce this though-(which will probably be after the Princess half in March)

Here's the medal.. the red is the elevator and it is on a spring that lets it move up and down. This is from 2007 so i'm not sure if it's the same medal. Also we ran DHS and I think this goes through AK.
It could be a really fun thing for Brinn and if Pam does the race that's a great offer to get Dad off the hook.
And it is one of my favorite medals!

I can probably handle the arm- but need my leg to run! LOL Brinn, Wolfie anyone else who wants to run with me is welcome! I don't do these for PR's I do them for fun, and exercise (and of course- THE BLING). I will do a run walk of some kind, mainly because I don't walk very fast (ask Sharon- she had to pull me along walking at CMM last year).

There is going to be a 5k this year along with the 13k. Does this change anyone's mind? I know that I'm going to go with the 5k, the 13k just seemed to long to do after a day at the park, but the 5k is much easier to consider!

Resurrecting................just to see if those considering ever made a decision! :minnie:  Friend Sharon and I would still like to do this and I think we will given that there are not a ton of meets on Sat and since John has already ruined my reputation for TSM.

I have kinda given up the idea of doing this race- Disney does not supply transportation home from DHS and I don't have a vehicle. As far as I know no one with transportation is doing the race- or party. Is anyone?
