Walt Disney Company reportedly plans to submit a plan to build a theme park in Shanghai. According to press reports, Disney is submitting plans for the park, which will be the second Disney resort in China after its park in Hong Kong, to Shanghai city officials and the Chinese government, but it stressed no deal had been signed and nothing has been approved. Disney has been in discussions with Chinese officials over plans to build a large theme park and hotel complex in the Pudong district in the southern suburbs of Shanghai. The project must be approved by China’s central government in order for it to move forward. Disney reportedly is proposing to own a 43 percent stake in the Shanghai theme park and a local government-owned joint venture holding company would own 57 percent, according to press reports. The park is expected to cost $3.59 billion and would occupy roughly 371 acres. It would likely be larger than one in Hong Kong and include a park, a hotel and a shopping development. Cool! The Chinese people love, love, love anything Disney and they even buy counterfeit Disney in Shanghai which irks the Disney Company to no end. I have a friend living there with her DH who's a computer wiz and when the chinese people find out that her DH is from Southern California, the first thing they say is "Ah Disneyland!"

Now if they could build a park in Australia or New Zealand--the land of Narnia--that would be awesome!
