My daughter absolutely loves getting mail. Does anyone have any suggestions for a magazine to subscribe to? She loves all types of sports. She just turned 7, but her developmental level is probably roughly equal to that of a 5 year old, and she is just a very, very beginning reader.

Does she like animals? My favorite magazine for that age (and, guilty confession, one of my favorites for me, too) is Ranger Rick which is a magazine about animals and nature.
Check it out at Ranger Rick magazine (http://www.nwf.org/rangerrick/kzPage.cfm?siteId=3&CFID=624685&CFTOKEN=73272169)

Highlights for children is WONDERFUL!
I used to get Cricket as a child. It has stories each month by famous authors and illustrators. I was at the library last Sat with my kids and noticed they had the current issue on the shelf. I couldn't help myself from picking itup and reading it :D

We have some great kids magazines in Canada. The Chirp and Chickadee magazines are great. My kids get Chirp but it is starting to be a bit young for my son who is almost 8. my DD who is almost 6 still loves it. You can access it at http://www.owlkids.com
When it comes to mail and kids, the more the merrier!!

Thank you all for your replies! We went to the bookstore today and bought a couple.
Miss Bianca, I bought her My Big Backyard-It is made by the company as Ranger Rick, but for slightly younger kids. Looks great!
Sandar and Pinky, I got her an issue of Spider-again a "younger" version of Cricket.
Buzz's Mom, I went ahead and got a subscription to Chirp. It is actually less expensive then most subscriptions in the U.S.
Thanks again!

That is one of the joys of living in the states, all the things that we complain about being too expensive is priced well for our neighbours to the south! I'm sure she will enjoy Chirp, I know my daughter loves to get it. Last month it was all about dogs! Which she loves!
