From Screamscape.com (http://screamscape.com/):

Downtown Disney & Pleasure Island News - (10/21/08 ) According to one source, in the weeks that have followed the closure of Pleasure Island, WDW Management has been made aware of just how dead and silent the middle of Downtown Disney has become. On top of this, we've heard rumors that the poor economy has also made several of the 3rd party companies who were set to move in, start to second guess these costly projects. With serious demolition not even planned until sometime in 2009, the rumor leaking from Team Disney is that management is looking into possibly reopening some of the venues for the busy Holiday season.

Anyone else hear about this?

Yeah!

That does jive with one of the rumors I heard the night PI closed that the leasing of the clubs by third party venders has fallen through.

With little reason for people to walk through PI, the few third party store ownere already there must not be happy.

I still think they could do fairly cheap modifications to some of the dance clubs. Make the Beach Club family friendly. Add karoake, or add a 50's style soda fountain. Make a place families can hang out after the parks close.

Keep some of the clubs adult only (or make them adult only!) and make the walk through and a few clubs family friendly.

Let me understand this now. They spit in my eye by closing AC.....and now poor babies; the economy is not letting "because we asked for it (like the Character Caravan)"projects may be delayed or not built. But they'll do us the favor of reopening venues for the holidays?

As of today, there is no truth to this rumor. The cast members that were working over at PI have all been reassigned or left the company and cxurrently there is a hiring freeze to add any more.

I'd heard the AC is booked for private parties through December.

The 2008 NFFC Florida Canvention (http://gallery.me.com/cwo1#100037&view=grid&bgcolor=black&sel=40) had a party there in October 4th.

There is an interesting discussion going on at WDWMagic (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=365230)

I was thinking....many of the larger resorts have their own 'evening entertainment'. AKL has the bar that overlooks Boma, but nothing else to do at night.

Wouldn't the AC make a lovely addition to the new building? Move all the sets over and expand the club by adding on a dining room. The 'bar' could be adults only while the dining room would be family friendly. If Mom and Dad want a night off, the kiddies could stay at Simba's Club over at the main Lodge.

That's a clever idea! I haven't heard anyone suggest hotel entertainment before. And if Disney doesn't want it at PI, drawing customers there, then this would be a good fit!

The Epcot resorts have the Boardwalk clubs. Coronado Springs recently got some kind of club. POR has it's bar and entertainer.

If Disney doesn't want to people congregating in one adult entertainment district, then they should scatter than entertainment around property. Besides making individual reports more appealing to potentional guests, it provides a place for adults to spend money after the parks close and keeps them off the roads.
