DH and I are taking our DD to MNSSHP this year. Did you enjoy the party? What kind of costume did you wear The costume part seems a bit hard because you don't want anything too hot.

We love this party!!! It's JMHO, but I enjoyed it even more than the Christmas party. They do a great job decorating the entire park. There are balloons and jack-o-lanterns everywhere, and lots of neat lighting too.

Make sure and catch the parade. You can't miss the Headless Horseman riding!

When we went in 2002 our entire family dressed in an Alice in Wonderland theme. We had a blast, and got lots of attention from CMs and guest who liked the costumes. Not everyone is dressed in costume, but you certainly won't feel out of place if you do.

We didn't find the temperatures at that time to be too bad. I was actually a little chilly in 3/4 length sleeves toward the end of the night. My kids made me ride Splash Mountain against my better judgement, and we got soaked.

I'm thinking we may do something a little simpler this year and just all go as pirates or something.

My husband and I took our 6 year old son last year! This was a great party and we all had a blast!

My son had a dracula costume and I just wore a halloween t shirt and sweater. Since the party started at 7, though it was warm during the day, it was a little cool at night and we were glad to have the long sleeves.

The park was great and the activities were a lot of fun - there is just something magical about being there after dark with all the special decorations!

Most of the kids had costumes and there were some families that were also dressed so - whatever you are most confortable in would be fine!

Have lots of fun! :mickeyHalloween:

we went last October. Theo wore a spiderman costume.. and still talks about it now!

I wore a halloween tshirt.. a lot of adults did that actually although it was fun to see all the families dressed up!

I was WAY too hot though! It was a thick t shirt and a humid night..
no need for any of the long sleeves we brought that night!

We went last year and as you can see from my picture below included the Liberty Tree Dinner, it was a blast, all the characters were in costume. We didn't dress up but wore orange and had Halloween buttons, earring etc. I didn't want to be hung up in a heavy duty costume, but I really enjoyed seeing all the costumes. I have to share the best costume I have ever seen, we were on the monorail just going to the party and two young men got on. The one young fellow was dressed exactly like Peter Pan and the other fellow was dressed the same, only he was all in black, including his face - you guessed it, he was Peter's shadow. What an imagination. You will love the party, be ready to get into the groove with the tune "Which Witch is Which" it sticks with you even more than It's a Small World.

Have fun :mickeyHalloween:

That is a super creative idea, Zakerdog! I bet they were getting questions and comments all night. :D

I had a heck of a time finding my Queen of Hearts costume. Disney wasn't carrying them that year, and they had been discontinued by the costume company that made them. Thankfully a friend found one from the previous Halloween at a store in PA. It was kinda hard getting 5 of us in a theme, that's why I'm thinking of just letting the kids do what they want, and getting some pirate gear for John and I. Besides, my 10 year old son would no longer go for being the Mad Hatter.

Look left...the three times we went, short sleeves turned out just fine. You can check the weather, and decide if you need to bring a sweatshirt or not. You'll love it!

We really enjoyed MNSSHP. We did it for the first time last October. We actually went on Friday and then again on Sunday. Well worth the cost of two tickets!!!

I agree with everyone, dress comfortably and cool. It was hot and I often felt bad for kids dressed in a full costume (e.g. Pooh, Tigger, etc.) They had to be absolutely melting inside.

Tink23 was dressed as the Evil Queen after many, many costume changes! Gotta love a kid who changes her mind every other week! I went as Pinocchio. I bought the costume new off Ebay for just a few dollars. So many people commented to us! We were asked to have our pictures taken by total strangers! I was asked by an older gentlemen over and over again if I was really a CM. He just would not believe me. I had someone ask me "How much I was paid to wear that costume!" Ghepetto actually came over and shook my hand and patted my head during the parade! I was just so cool. Tink23--well we found she scared many smaller children and even some older ones! We were surprised at some of the reactions.

I just got my pictures developed (can you say it's about time). I will try and get them posted in the Photo Gallery.

Alicia,

Sorry, I got side-tracked and didn't get them posted. I will definitely do it this weekend. I have some other pictures I want to post from MNSSHP. I have a wonderful picture of Cinderella's carriage all lite up. To our disappointment, my headless horsemen pictures did not come out.

How are the crowds for Halloween?

I was down there once in October (Columbus Day Week) and it was Totally jammed. Do the crowds thin out for that last week in Oct.? Since Halloween is on a weekend this year do you think the crowds would be less the week before or after?
