In Baltimore it's fluctuating between $1.77 and $1.81. It's highest near the interstates, of course.

The cheaper ones I go to are $1.72 but I believe they keep saying the average is closer to $1.80. I don't understand when people go pay the higher prices when the gas station right next door can be 10 cents or more cheaper.

In Minnesota I'm paying about 1.80 in the inner city. I began to understand that people in the inner city are a bit ripped off by a lot of merchants when my kids moved to the suburbs. I teach once in awhile out in a suburban location and the price is always 10 cents less -- at least-- than what I'm charged in the "inner city."

Southeast of Cleveland, OH I just filled up at about $1.69 a gallon but that was low. We have consistently been up at around $1.79 or $1.80 for the last month or so. And yes, Dr. Babe, I agree with you about the inner city. I used to be a social worker in the inner city of Cleveland and gas was always more expensive there. I used to do whatever I could to avoid filling up there. That and the station right in my old neighborhood jacked the prices up to $5.00 a gallon on September 11. No business from Jenny after that.

Here in San Diego the cheapest I've seen gas in the last few weeks is $2.07. We just paid $2.17 on Sunday, and this is the cheap stuff - not premium or super!!!

but at the same time how much do you think we pay for a gallon of our favorite soda, particularly at prices one pays for soda in restaurants even if it all you want for refills. Amazing to me how the wait person never appears very often to refill.
