I'm looking for a quick easy read for the summer months. You know the kind, one you can read while the kids are playing in the yard and you have to put it down every five seconds because they've fell off their bike, but then you can pick up where you left off easily.
Suggestions?

Cheri,
I'm not sure what kind of books you like but there is a light-hearted mystery series that may just fit the bill. If you have a local library, they may have them all and you can immerse yourself in the series all summer. I am usually only a science fiction/fantasy reader, but I just love these cute little books!
They are the "Cat Who" books by Lillian Jackson Braun. The first book is called "The Cat Who Read Backward".
They are about a very engaging fellow named James Quilleran and his two Siamese Cats. James is a writer and he has many adventures and meets lots of interesting people. There is much talk of antiques, art, food, travel and lots and lots of humor!
Here is a link to a private website that lists all the books. If you go to the home page you can read more than you every wanted to know about the series. (The person is a little obsessed, but the site is thorough).

You may enjoy the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. For now its a trilogy (with fingers crossed that it there will be more coming.)
The books so far are:
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Shopaholic Takes Manhattan
Shopaholic Ties the Knot
They are very quick, very funny chick-lit books. If you like this genre I have a lot more of other suggestions as I read a book every day or so.

Cheri, do you like Nora Roberts? one of my favorite series by her is the Chesapeke bay series. It is a 4 series book. I think the first one is Sea Swept, then Inner Harbor, Rising Tide, and then Cheaspeke Blue. They are very good books and a fairly easy read. Also Nanny Diaries is good and very easy. If you need any more ideas let me know, I have TONS of ideas for you....Tracy

You may well have read them, but the janet evanovich series about stephanie plum is great, light reading
If you like the wacky Carl Hiassen stories, you might enjoy Tim Dorsey's books.
And for sheer fantasy, I can send you Moley's diary.

I am in on the diary, roodad! You must be getting a fortune from this on Ebay. She's surely known there.
I love Mary Higgins Clarke, and recently have been reading some of her daughter's books, Carol Higgins Clarke. It is light murder mystery stuff.

Kathi, Those cat books sound cool. However, I must say that website is like a book on the books. LOL
ramson, I love shopping so shopaholic books sound right up my alley
Tracy, I do like Nora Rovers and I've not read the Chesapeke series. I just finished Midnight Bayou and thought it was great.
roodad, I've never heard of Car Hiassen or Tim Dorsey so I'll have to check those out. And Moley's diary sounds great
Francine, I love Mary Higgins Clarke, my favorite book of hers is "loves music, loves to dance" ooohh creepy!
Sandi, you only get a copy of the diary after I do
I guess I should have specified the kind of books I like. I like suspense, of course romantic, and chick books. I'm not much into sci fi, but I do enjoy some fantasy books.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I just get overwhelmed when I walk into the library, now I'm headed with a list thanks to ya'll!
