I am flying Delta Airlines to Orlando. My friend is flying American into Orlando. My flight arrives about 20 minutes before hers so the plan was that I'd deplane, get my luggage and meet her at the American Airlines luggage claim area and from there have a town car pick us up to drive us to the resort.

I am now looking at a map of the Orlando airport and see that I am flying into termial B and she is flying into terminal A. The luggage claim areas for both terminals appear to be next to each other on the map. What I can't tell is, is this one big baggage claim for all airlines or are these baggage claims in 2 different buildings that are side by side? If they are in separate buildings will I have any problems getting from one to the other on foot?

TIA

Actually, there are 5 buildings at MCO.

The main building, the 'landside' building, is in the middle. It has all the baggage claim, ground transportation, check-in counters, a food court, hotel, shopping area, and all the security checkpoints. The building is a long rectangle, with one side called Terminal A and the other side called Terminal B, and the shopping and food court in the middle aisle.

The other 4 buildings, the 'air side' buildings or satelite terminals, are connected to the landside building with small monorails. Each one has a number of airlines in it and has a large number of gates. There are no gates on the landside building.

Your Delta flight will dock at a gate between 60 and 99. Take the monorail to the landside building; your baggage will come into the B Side of the building. Your friend's American flight will dock at a gate in another airside building between 1 and 29, and her baggage will come into the landside terminal on the A side of the building. The monorails will let you off on Level 3; Baggage Claim is on Level 2.

After you get your baggage, just follow the signs to the A side and look for a belt with her flight number on the sign. The sign won't light up with the flight number till about 10 minutes after her flight lands, so you will most likely spot her before you spot which belt her luggage is coming out of.

The baggage claim areas are HUGE. They run the entire length of the landside terminal, which is several hundred feet long, so be prepared to do a lot of walking.

Once you have your bags, go down one more level to Level 1 for ground transportation (rental cars, shuttle busses, taxis, and towncar pickup areas).

Thanks for the info, Will. I was looking and looking at that online airport map and with the different colors couldn't tell if I was looking at one building or two. Thanks for clearing it up.
