Do you guys find that as your kids are getting older (DS/15, DD/14, DS/7)
that with only 2 beds and a daybed or trundel, that the who sleeps where fights go on and on. DH and I always have to sleep on seperate beds because the kids refuse to sleep next to each other (again, age thing, girl/boy thing). What do you guys do? Any creative suggestions?

All moved! :)

And I thought this was a DREADED 5 in a bedroom that is supposed to only sleep four question!! But never fear! :)

I read somewhere that some resorts will provide a rollaway for the 4th in a room (or 5th I guess if it sleeps 5) if the kids are a boy and a girl. Anyone ever done this? I was really surprised, because I didn't think Disney EVER provided rollaways...

So far, so good though. Our girls always get the pullout couch, and think its the coolest thing... DW and I will just HAVE to settle for that King size bed in the Master bedroom... :) I love DVC...

they will provid a rollaway . they gave us a rollaway at POR in MArch when the didnt' give us a bayou roo mwith a trundel bed.

The other thing i was thinking was mabe a blow up twin size air matress for the 7 yr old with a cool new sheet and it could be slid under the bed or stood up in the closet area when not in use. Just one idea. they also have those new blow up kids beds withthe sleeping bags attached for kids now that are alittle smaller then a twin that are pretty cool.

Hope something helps.

Hay are my kids over there? Do they fight? You bet they do.Our oldest doesn't go with us any more and it wasn't a problem when he did come DS1&DS2 shared a bed DD got the day bed,Now DS2 & DD fight over who gets the bed(queen size) and who sleeps on the day bed I settled it by switching of nights. Now DS is getting to long for the daybed and DD is already having a fit about sleeping on it.BTW they are 16(17 in 8 weeks) and 14(15 in Aug)

People have solved this in many unique ways.

Some kids don't mind sleeping on an air mattress with a nice fluffy sleeping bag. It's like camping, and the Mousekeeping CMs often do things like arrange the kids' stuffed animals or make towel animals to spruce up the sleeping bag.

A friend of mine has often gone on work trips and put the mattress of one bed on the floor, and one guy slept on the mattress while another slept on the box spring.

Others have bought inexpensive folding cots from camping stores and brought them along for the kids.

Of course, if Mom and Dad just leave the kids home and go to WDW by themselves...

When we were kids, Mom used to roll the bedspread into a long tube and put it between my brother and I to mark our territory. Then they had two more boys and I never had to share again.

If you're worried about germs, wrap a sheet around it.

This is something is going to become an issue for our family too, LuvmeDisney. Right now the youngest of the three has been sleeping in a crib in motel rooms. She's getting about too big to do that anymore, and we'll start feeling your pain.

I think we're going to invest in one of those AeroBeds. That way the girls can sleep together in a bed, and our oldest (son) can sleep on the AeroBed. On a positive note...since we joined DVC, I'll be happily slumbering in the master bedroom on a king size bed.

When they get even older I think we'll have to either get a two bedroom DVC unit, or two connecting rooms at a regular motel. I think we'll all be thankful for the extra bathroom.

I only have one child myself but I grew up in a family of four. My parents had a really neat solution on our one and only Disney trip with all six of us. Anyone old enough to earn money by babysitting or with a paper route paid their own way or stayed at home. Makes the trip much more affordable for mom and dad - you could get an adjoining room for the those who don't want to share.

(Of course, now over thirty years later I still have to hear my older sister whine and complain about this horrible injustice. Too bad!)

Another vote for the Aero Bed. Just beware, Do NOT wait until 10 PM to blow these beds up. If you use an air pump-they can be VERY loud and you will have some not so happy neighbors!

The Air mattress/aerobed idea should work for you- I'd just tell the guys to "buck up" it's only for a few nights. Sorry when my older kids were that age they felt lucky to be staying in a hotel room and not all sleeping on a cousins floor somewhere for vacation. (We didn't travel except to WEddings ect until older kids were all in High School).

Well, looks like if I can figure out a way to travel (by plane) with the aerobed, then that sounds best.

Thanks!

Linda,

The air mattress I purchased was rather small when it was folded. It was in a box that easily fit in the large suitcase. It was a little hard to get back in the box after we used it, but you can let your kids wrestle with that problem, lol.
