View Full Version : Site loading a bit slow?... Try this!

If things are moving a bit slowly on the site, it could be a server problem.
But there is something else you can try. :) Up at the top of the Forum screen is a MAXIMIZE button. If you click that the forum will run in 'full screen' mode - which means you don't see the menu on the left, calendar, etc.
This can speed things up when you are just reading the forums. Just remember to hit the MINIMIZE button every so often to see new polls, Admin messages, etc. :)
Hope that helps some of you who have been experiencing long load times.

That helps a lot! Thanks, Tagrel. :D
Here I was all excited to have this speedy DSL, and it wasn't helping on this site. This did the trick though.

Sorry - I should have shared THAT tidbit a while ago... I know how annoying it can be when a site is REALLY slow to load.

What's odd...tonight when I hit maximize it takes me back to the main list of forums, but as soon as I enter a thread, the right column reappears. Since I'm on the laptop (which I haven't viewed the site with much) and I dialup the glitch might be on my end. I'll have to see what happens when I'm back home on my usual computer.

I'm experiencing the same glitch. I assumed it was one of the little things that has to be "tweaked" after the move.

You assumed correctly Amymouse! Its one of my last big issues with the move. For whatever reason (and I've spent HOURS and HOURS trying to figure out why!) that durn Maximize/Minimize feature is not working correctly. And its a strange problem in that SOMETIMES it does work OK for some people... If I ever find a solution, I'll post that it is working again.

I'm back on my regular computer, and the 'glitch' is gone. :D
