We will arrive at ASmo early to mid afternoon (hopefully) with lots of kids that have been in a car since the morning before (with an overnight stop). I know we can swim in the pools visit playgrounds and the Dalmation and Andys Room "sets" but what else can we do to get the kinks out? (we will not be visiting a park). How far are the outlets from the All-Stars? (I can see a "mom and big girl shopping trip" in the future maybe)

does it have to be at ASMo? Since I'm a shopping fool, we always hit DD the first night. Other than that, there is always the game room at the resort.

This may just be a rumor, but, I have heard that the CM's have an underground poker club somewhere near the back of the resort. Its gonna cost you 2 large just to get in. They may even have a kids program. If your interested, let me know. I will make some calls!

How about a trip to Winterland/Summerland Mini Golf?

Hey pam,

I would highly recommend a stop at the Belz Outlet Mall. They have two disney stores there and I have the absolute BEST time shopping there. I don't know the way there, but Linda C does (she was my shopping buddy last year) and I'm sure she can get you there the easiest way.

Another fun thing to do is go over to one of the monorail resorts, ride the monorail and check out the Poly, Cont, and GF. If you were to park at the WL, look around, then take the boat over to the MK, get on the monorail and check the others out.

Or how about if you go to the Boardwalk, walk around there, ride surrey bikes, and check out the Boardwalk, YC, and BC. We ahd a fun afternoon walking around the boardwalk, had dinner at the ESPN Club and shopped. Of copurse, shopping is always included.

Downtown Disney is always fun also. I personally can';t wait to get to the outlet stores myself, because last year I got some awesome deals. I bought long sleeve disney t shirts for the boys for school and paid only $5.99 for them, when they were $21 at the resorts for the same shirts. I also got some for Terry, and other cool gifts to bring home for the rest of our family. I know Linda has gone at times where she has not found much, but I feel its worth a try. Thank god my husband is a patient man.

Hmm, just thinking, let me know and I'll meet you girls there!

Pam,

Given how much time you will all have spent in cars just to get there, I'm guessing you'd like to be at or near the All Stars that day. So my suggestions would be what you listed -- unpack, do some swimming, and grab some photo opps with those fun icons.

If you have time and everyone's up for a short ride, maybe you could zoom over to AKL? The kids might enjoy seeing the critters and the lodge itself. Plus Mara could be a good place for a snack or supper.

Which outlet do you want to check out Pam???
The closest one would be the LBV Premium Outlets.
From Downtown Disney, head down Hotel Plaza Blvd to SR 535. Turn right, go under the I 4 overpass, to Vineland (there will be a Bahama Breeze Restaurant on this corner) turn left. Go about a half mile and you will see the mall on your right side.
There are some great shops here. Disney has a store, so does Universal. There is also a Nike, Adidas, Coach, just to name a few others.
The Belz Outlets are located just off of I 4. There will be billboards along the highway advertising for these. This Outlet shopping mecca consists of 2 Belz malls, along with a bunch of strip plazas that have everything you can think of!

Happy Shopping!!

After 2 days in the car, arriving mid afternoon, our usual plan is to head to the grocery store (if you are that early, have lunch and a bit of a play first to get the kinks out), Mum unpacks and organizes the room and the kids go for a swim with Dad (or Gramps has taken them swimming while Ma and Pa do groceries). We then have supper at the food court. If we have arrived a bit later, the kids swim after supper, or we have gone to Epcot, taken the monorail loop around and purchased the one annual pass we needed when there was no lineup at guest services. It was about 8:30, and we didn't want to do a late Illuminations so we zipped into Spaceship Earth and back out before any crowds. Early to bed to get caught up on sleep so we can hit the pavement running the next day! We usually like to save our shopping until a bit later in the trip, so we have an idea of what's around that year. You can easily kill a few hours just wandering around the resort and in the gift shops/arcade.
