For over 10 years we've heard that the "5th park" will be a Villains park with lots of roller coasters and thrill rides. Disney has always denied this on both counts.
We recently heard about a "5th park" that would be called Disney's Night Kingdom and would be a premium-priced, limited admission deal on a par with Discovery Cove. Plans for this were actually in development, but were suspended.
At one point a Taginator friend who was a local resident posted here that "The new construction over there is the 5th park! I know it for a fact! It's definitely the 5th park!" The construction she mentioned obviously did not turn out to be a 5th park, but part of some other project (I think it might have been part of the Western Way construction, or maybe the beginnings odf the new Four Seasons stuff on the western edge of WDW property, but I can't remember).
Now we get a rumor that the "5th park" will be a huge new water park. If that ever happened, of course, it would not really be a "5th park," but would instead be a "3rd water park."
Throughout all of these rumors, many of whom can be traced to overzealous and misinformed WDW bus drivers, Disney has staunchly maintained that they have no plans whatsoever for a "5th park" at WDW.
Personally, I believe Disney. I think a lot of rumors get started from concept plans and ideas that Imagineers spitball at each other; people out of the look get wind of these ideas and think that they are actual plans, when in fact they are nothing more than elaborate brainstorming sessions by very gifted Imagineers.
I won't believe it till I see it. And even then I'll wait till I see it more than once before I truly believe it.

I think it's in Disney's best interests to upgrade the existing major parks at this time, rather than to build more.
I could see a new water park to compete with Discovery Cove and/or Aquatica, but not a new major park at this time. Heck, we're still waiting to see if they ever do anything with River Country with is list by RCID as a minor park (those designated as closed).
With high gas prices and other problems with the economy the tourism industry 'might' be heading for some hard times. I can't imagine this is a great time to start a huge project, like building a major park.
The unfinished buildings at Pop Century still stand as a reminder of the rough days after 9/11.

I heard they were thinking about adding special water features to Saratoga Springs to make it more desireable. That sounds more reasonable to me as they have spent a fortune and not a lot want to stay there for lack of water features etc. They need to do something and that would make sense. :)

I doubt Disney would build a 'huge' water park- but just saying that's what I read. :p
Rumors- gotta love 'em.

A couple of years ago I heard rumors of a Pirates of the Caribbean water park being built. It sounds like that rumor has resurfaced.

maybe we're on to something- it says it'll be like NO other water park... and it would be as big as a theme park. Maybe we need to think outside the box for this one. Oh now I'm excited!!! Not your everyday waterpark- :mickey:
