Just read on wdwmagic that the MK was closed today due to capacity! Looks like WDW is getting back to it's usual "packed" self. Tis the season, I guess, since it is the beginning of Spring Break time. I am sure that we will hear of more of these closings as the next few weeks go by!

Talking to Cheri as I type  - They also closed AK today for capacity! They are doing the be there when park opens and leaving about lunch time and playing outside the parks touring plan! Crowds tend to be showing up late but as expected parks are packed by lunch time - fastpasses way out on time or very late early in day!
Cheri says "It is packed" Also said "Since they have annual passes don't feel ripped off but if they were hoppers they would feel very cheated or jibed"
She says the weather is cool but the kids love the pool at PO-FQ!
She says Hey everyone!

Ahhhhh  The pool at POFQ :P What I wouldnt give to be there, RIGHT NOW!!! Actually, I do most of my swimming in the hot tub, I get in a lot more laps that way.
Tell Cheri I said Hi :minnie: I hope the parks are less crowded tommorow for her!
Holy cow! And I thought we had some crowds during the Spring Breaks when we were there. Nothing like that. Best of luck to LGC, sounds like she has a good touring plan.

Wow, I never heard of any parks closing during spring break... especially on a monday. Crowded, yes, but to capacity? Wow.. guess it doesn't matter that I'm blacked out now. I'm sure LGC is handling it like a Pro. 8)

Maybe I'm glad I'm not there... no still wish I was!! Especially since my plans for the week have changed 3 times in a day and a half. It's hard to believe I'm looking forward to the "sane school days" already :hiding: (This is me when I tell all the cousins the zoo we were going to Thursday is closed)

I agree with Joe, as we were there at the same time. AliKat and I now have a mantra "never during spring break" We are definitely spoiled off season lazy butt tourists. Sounds like Cheri's touring plan is the only way to go. Hope it gets warmer though!

Tell Cheri hi from me too. I can't believe that they are so packed for spring break but I remember this happening before. Luckily, it never happened to us or I would have scaled the walls to get in after getting all the way down there!
We've been on Easter Sunday and it was jam packed and well, you know what the summer is like. We also had to go on school breaks when DH was teaching so it was us and 5 million kids but we always got in early and would not have known if any park had stopped people from entering once we were there. At least we got in.
That's why we now LOVE being retired if for no other reason then to be able to go down to DW and get in with no crowds. Even MVMCP was empty by our standards. It was fantastic. No lines, no waits, no pushing and shoving, no sweating from the heat. We loved it! Next year we'll try the Fall, after school starts and before Thanksgiving and see how that is. Still warm but not like August!!! (NEVER AGAIN!!!).
Cheri's a pro - she'll know what to do to get the most out of the parks.

I'm thinking we're going to look seriously at the fall timeframe. We have been very happy with the crowds during that time.

I'm really glad I'm not there today! But I'm glad Disney is doing better. Maybe they'll bring back some of the magic.
Anyone have an explanation as to why they're doing so well this year?

Give Cheri a big HELLO from us if you get to talk to her again!
Me thinks me needs to rethink the time of year I am planning on going (since we don't have kiddies yet). Me thinks that its best to take advantage of OFF-SEASON!! ;)

Tell Cheri Hi from me too!
Val has said the crowds for all of Spring Break season this year have been heavier than last year. And definitely picking up this week. Good sign for Disney - bad sign for people that want to go with less crowds. She was working Town Square today and yesterday morning and said it was a total zoo.

I think too this is a good sign for Disney. Maybe we can reap the long term benefits and they will take it up a notch again. It's too bad though for those there trying to get around.

When I went to AAA to book my flight (for first week of May), the rep showed me 4 huge piles on her desk that were all bookings for Disney during Spring Break! She said that the draw is that most people are now afraid to travel over seas and Disney seems to be the first "kid-friendly" place in the U.S. that people think about.
Well... it was mine too!!

Mitabelo,
That's a good point (I didn't think about that). Makes sense - though I can't think of anyplace outside that I'd want to take my children except maybe Disney Sea, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disney! ;)
~Suzy
hmm, i hadn't thought of WDW being THE place to be due to folks not wanting to travel outside the US. I sure am glad that off season is our time to visit. Looking like 2 trips this fall/winter for us. It's going to be tough to wait, I haven't missed a May trip in several years.

Oh my word! You would NOT Believe the crowds!!!! It was jam packed wall to wall people everyday. On Monday, there were cars parked on the grass out by Richard Petty Driving experience to get into the MK! This was at noon!
We were given some VERY wrong information about MGM EMH on Tuesday, as were about zillion other people. We were all told by many different sources that MGM would be opening at 7 am. When we got there, there was no security, the metal gates were down over the turnstyles. Finally a CM said, "Can I help you folks?" He then informed us that EMH wasn't until 8 am  It was 6:35. We decided to just stay and "ride it out" and about 5 minutes later, buses and buses and buses started unloading. Let me tell ya, there were some VERY angry people. I thought one guy was going to beat up at operations CM. The bottom line was... we were all told by different resorts, EPCOT ticket booth, the television tips that EMH was at 7am. WRONG!! But, I just smiled, and gave my .02 to the operations and waited with a teeny weeny itsty bitsy amount of foot stomping.
Wednesday - We hit Cocoa beach and had a great relaxing day
Thursday - Epcot. the lines for fast passes for M:S and TT were 30 minutes. Just to get a fast pass!
Friday - Animal Kingdom. Crowds were much more managable this day. Either that, or we hit the lands were other people weren't. I'll try to work on a trip report, but you all know me. I have the best intentions but tend to not get it done. :?
I'll be anxious to see how crowds are in 2 weeks when I get to go back for "business"!

Welcome back, Cheri. Whew, those are crowded conditions. Knowing you, I'm certain you made the best of it and still had fun. Hope you can give a mini report, if not a long one. Good to have you home. :)

Cheri,
Yoiks! I'm shaking my head over all this info - it sounds just like a report from Christmas week. Hope you'll write up some more details if you can find the time. Welcome back!
