View Full Version : Site Forum updated to latest vBulletin Software

I've upgraded the forums to the latest vBulletin and vbAdvanced software and so far so good. There are plenty of new features in this version such as Social Groups, member albums, and lots of Administration extras I'm just starting to dig into myself. :)

Feel free to discuss problems/thoughts/question and any new features you find here on this thread. :yes:

Can you explain "Social Groups" and what they would be used for?

Is there any way to rearrange the control panel so the PM options are where they used to be?

I would think Social Groups could be any group - MouseFesters, Scrappers, Marathoners, etc.

And no, the new layout of the CP is built in and I try to keep reworking page layouts to a minimum because every time I upgrade I have to manually do them all over again. I really don't see them as much different... But I seldom did anything with Private Messages from the CP page... I just click on Private Messages link at right top of every forum page myself...

I noticed certain features on enabled by default, but you can turn them off under Edit Options, in your User CP.

You can turn on/off receiving emails for every friendship request you get.

You can disable or limit Visitor Messaging (comments) on your profile.

People can comment on profiles? Man, I guess I just don't get this myspace stuff.

For me the transition to the new software was seamless Dave. I can't find any glitches at my end presently. If you hadn't mentioned about the upgrade and new features I prolly would never have noticed any change at all. KUDOS to your team!

KLF, It's a Miss B creation. Where she got the Mickey I couldn't say. The background tho are from photos of some of my pottery.

I don't seem to be getting popup notifications of new private messages any more--and yes, I did check my options. Anyone else getting this? I could just be missing them, I guess.

Edited to add: Nevermind. I don't know why I seem to miss some, but I just for sure got one.

From time to time, when I select "Today's Posts" from the Quick Links menu, it tell me that I cannot do another seach, wait x seconds. I hadn't done a search or used Quick Links in the last few minutes, I was reading a thread so not sure why it tell me that. I wait a few seconds and try again with better results.
