I'm staying at Old Key West (in a one bedroom suite) and heard it was real spread out.

Can anyone recommend a room/building/location to request at check in. Also which floor too. I heard there was a balcony and am thinking DH and I might like to sit there after the little one is zonked out asleep -- I'm assuming the first floor doesn't have a balcony? If it does is it ground level?

THANKS!

Maria

Oh... forgot to add that we'll have a rental car and need to be close to a parking area if that makes a difference.

Thanks again!!

I've not stayed there, but I've heard building 14 is a good location.

First of all, I think you should call back and make your location request before you get there. You might have more luck in getting what you want, altho not necessarily. Also, we always stay in the Turtle Pond area. Like the quiet pool and snack bar there. Also, first floor units have a fenced in porch which is exactly the same as the upper floor balconies -- but on the first floor.

Forgot to mention that except for a very few locations, you will be parking at your front door no matter what building you are in. I THINK that I have heard that some buildings do not have front door parking, but I don't know which ones. Might be the newer buildings. Anybody know for sure?

There really is not bad building or room at OKW that I have encountered in 13 visits. We do like the Miller's road area and Turtle Pond, but have also enjoyed building 13, right in front of HH. We were in building 52, 46 last 2 times and they were also great. All have patios, porches and never had a bad view. The only building that does not have parking right in fron is one of the new ones, I think 64, but it is available right next door. Have fun.

You will absolutely love the room you get in the 1 BR suites at OKW (and beware, you could become hooked on DVC!!!) As Connie said, there really are no bad rooms at OKW. We prefer to be on the second floor overlooking the golf course. Our preference, as I like to sit outside in the morning and have my coffee watching the greenskeepers and the golfers. We usually stay in the vicinity of the Hospitality House, but again that is our preference. Getting around inside the resort is easily done via the busses that run constantly.

Have a great time!

Thanks everyone. I will definitely call and see if I can get my room early... that "picture" of having morning coffee overlooking the golf course convinced me that that's where I want to be... sounds like a peaceful start to a busy day!
