View Full Version : Another way to save a bit of money

This is by no means brain surgery, but I was thinking this morning of a way to make the cost of a "WDW First Aid Kit." Between DH and me, we get a lot of headaches and upset stomachs, so I want to make sure I have everything with me. My Passporter has a great list, so I wrote out the list and put it on the fridge. Over the next 7 weeks, I will get one or two things off my list that we don't have, depending on what's on sale.
For example, I noticed this morning that bandaids were buy one get one AND I had a coupon to get a free box. So I got a box of cushion bandaids and a box of waterproof and will take a combination of the two with us. We didn't have any in the house, so I would have had to buy them eventually. I will continue to do this with things such as Neosporin, moleskin, immodium, sunscreen and other things that we don't normally have a lot of in the house, watching for coupons as the weeks go by. That way I'm not putting $50 down at the drug store before we even leave the house.
Just a way to save a bit of money and to spread it out over a longer period of time!

Thanks for the good tip, JennyAnne!
I don't have the Passporter so I a am not sure these items are included on their list but I have had to purchase tweezers, nail clippers & fingernail polish remover at Disney prices in the hotel gift shop. You may not need them but they don't take up alot of suitcase space and they are quite costly at the House of Mouse.

Good thought Stinkerbelle!
Nail clippers were included but tweezers and nail polish remover were not. And I am just the kind of person who would bring 6 colors of nail polish and not a bit of remover!! And not that it matters so much for us because we're driving, but make sure you put those tweezers and clippers in the checked luggage for traveling.
I put your ideas in my Passporter so I wouldn't forget!

Great tips JennyAnne, I'm heading out to do my drugstore shopping a little later on this am! I think it is important to have meds with you. They are much cheaper and it's better than wondering, "Can I make to the gift shop for the Immodium?" Gotta go! Gotta go! Gotta go right now!
(sorry I'm hopital personnel ya know and those kind of things crack me up)

OK Cheri, I am literally rolling on the floor laughing right now! Jeremy and I love those commercials and we are always singing them when they come on TV. I can picture us rushing through WDW singing "Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now..."
You might be hospital personnel, but he's a computer systems auditor and I'm a teacher, so we have no excuse to be cracking up.
...And I don't have to go right now. :D

Ya know,20 years ago my list of stuff for a travel first aid kit wasn't as long as it is NOW! Sure,I would've remembered the bandaids, children's tylenol,sunscreen,etc...but now I have to think of headaches, and heartburn, and antihistamines, and all kinds of stupid ailments that could cause me discomfort on a trip. Isn't getting older FUN?....not!

I, too, like to pack everything when we go.. matter of fact, i keep a suitcase that's already full of all my "stuff". Besides costing more at disney, they don't always have what you need. And I really hate using my precious time at the world to go to walgreens or walmart. Recently DH actually forgot a swimsuit. Being 6'8" he isn't real easy to fit so we just headed out 192 for walmart and got one. However, since this time we were staying at the Radison out there it wasn't really a big deal, but it was a reminder to run thru a check list before we leave. Thanks for the reminder...

Great idea, JennyAnn! We always just have the basic (bandaids, neosporin, etc.). But reading your post (and the others) makes me rethink things a little and now I am going to make myself my own "Minnie" First Aid Kit! :minnie:
