What have been your favorite rumors over the years?

Which are you glad/sorry came true?

Which are you glad never saw the light of day?

Which ones do you hope will someday come true?
Your favorite rumors. Discuss!

My favorite rumor was that the Magic would be going over to the West Coast for Disneyland's 50th anniversary. When that came true, we got to be on the first voyage out of the Long Beach harbor. :wuv:

I'm glad the rumor that Spaceship Earth would be gutted for a thrill ride did not materialize.

When I heard the rumor that River Country would close, I had hoped it would not be true. Sadly it was.

The one I'm hoping does not come true is the night park rumor.

Why build a park when you can have exclusive parties at night in existing parks and resorts?

I'd rather see the money go into finishing the AK. We've only been waiting for 10 years!

I'm so with Moley on the Spaceship Earth rumor. There are few truly great Lazy Butt attractions and I'm glad SE stayed in this category.

I need a refresher on the rumors that did come true, LOL.

Maybe we can just start some. Shall we revive the "a new country is coming to World Showcase" rumor. I hear it's going to be something from the Middle East, maybe Turkey (do they count as the Middle East?).

I hope to someday see the mythical kingdom built at AK.
I was sorry to see the demise of Mr Toad and his replacement by Winnie the Merchandiser.
I was disappointed that the plan to run a monorail line to AK ran into sink holes.
I am tickled that the Contemporary DVC is coming to pass.

Really there are 2 rumors I loved. First ,and I just heard this again today. that there was going to be a Disney Park in Texas, (my state) I would still love that. Second, The Disney Villains park. That would have been very cool.

There was a rumor a few years back that Disney was looking at buying land on Coney Island for a theme park. It would have been so nice to have some of the Disney Magic much closer to home!

I just can't seen Disneyland Brookyln.

Now Disneyland Queens. I'd like that. ;-)

Either would be preferable to Thorland (http://www.ny1.com/ny1/content/index.jsp?stid=1&aid=68262). :(

But Disneyland Queens would certainly give these guys (http://www.queensinthekingdom.com/) more material to write about! :)

The fair grounds are little more than a huge grassy field. Since the World's Fair closed I've been to Flushing Meadow once or twice.

Actually the World's Fair was very Disney-ish. Even the non-Disney attractions.

Now that I think of it, the IBM egg was somewhat Soarin' like in that the entire seating area was lifted from ground level into the 'egg' where the show was.

Is DLP's weather so different from NY?

I heard a rumor way back in 1990 or 91 from the brother of a WDW based Imagineer that Disney was going to either sell or turn over the operation of all WDW Resort Hotels to Marriott. I'm glad that one never happened.
