All the cool wedding pictures in the anniversary thread got me thinking. How about if we share some of our older photos. No specific subjects, whatever you feel like scanning and sharing. I like looking at other peoples pictures!

I'll start. Here is our Chef Lizzy as a little one.

First with big brother Chris all dressed up to be in Cathy's brothers wedding.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa286/wdwnj/Family/chris_liz.jpg

And here she is somewhere at WDW...

Here I am at age 5. Even with six children, and tight budgets, we always had an annual professional photo.
I really don't know how my folks did it.

A Christmas card photo that has become part of the family folklore (I'm second from the left):

http://www.pbase.com/tominpok/image/80711808/medium.jpg

Note the box around my sister's head. After many attempts to get just the right photo, my father, a very resourceful man, finally gave up and turned to a 1960's version of PhotoShop - two Polaroids, a razor blade, and some tape. He actually had Christmas cards made from that!

Got a digital camera? It doesn't even have to be an expensive one, you could use a point-and-shoot. That's what I used for the photo I posted. It can be a little tricky if the photo has a glossy finish, trying to angle it and get the lighting right so there is less glare. And you might have to put the camera into macro mode, depending on how close you get to the subject.

Here is one of me:

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o179/Mel0311/Melanienewborn.jpg

This was when I came home from the hospital. I was born early and was very small. According to my mom there were not many preemie size clothes in 1975. So, she bought a doll dress pattern and made me a dress from it. That dress is now on a doll I had as a child and here at my house.

I need to try and dig up some pictures of Byron and post them tomorrow.

Looks like a Gran Turismo Hawk - beautiful.

Studebaker had two factories, one in Fort Wayne or South Bend, Indiana and the other in Hamilton, Ontario - about 40 miles from where I grew up. Some family friends worked there and there are still plenty of collectors in the area.

As I recall the Indiana plant shut down in 1965 and ours carried on until 1966.

Here's some from me.

My dad went to Daytona Beach, Florida this year to see his mother after she had been ill. He took me with him because I was 3 or 4 and not in school.

Here's me at the airport. I love the attitude! I remember waving goodbye to my mom from the plane and they gave me wings for my coat. I thought I was hot stuff with those wings! Like I was part of the flight crew.
http://tagrel.com/photopost/data/500/little-me-airport.jpg

Here's the two of us playing Monster's-gonna-get-you! or something similar. Unfortunately, I remember this trip to the beach, but not this moment.

I love these pictures, because any pictures of my dad are rare and especially candids. So to have these were we're playing around means a lot. (He passed away five years after this.)

Debi, you were just as beautiful as a baby as you are now! And you have barely aged since 2nd grade! You could have had that picture posted anonymously and we would have known it was you instantly. What a doll!!

And Erin, that one with you and the plane is a treasure! All attitude! And yes, you ARE all that ;)

Those are really pictures of Geri and me. We did the song "For Good" from Wicked and played a slideshow of us growing up together in the background (and ended it with the two of us at Mousefest). But we didn't have an early class picture of us together, so I chopped our kindergarten photo heads and put them on some old picture I found online. And the high school picture I chopped the head off another girl and put a picture of teenaged Geri there.

I love this thread!!!

I can't seem to find the picture I wanted to post which is me on my brother's shoulders with the framework for Space Mountain in the background taken in 1974, so instead I am "treating" you to this lovely bikini shot from the same summer. This was taken at my grandparent's fishing camp in Ansley, Mississippi. The smudges on my sweaty little cheeks? Moonpie, of course!

This next one is hands down my favorite picture I've ever taken at Disney. This is me and my grandmother as well as a salty old pirate at WDW taken the week of the grand opening of Epcot. Before every ride dumped you into a giftshop, Pirates used to dump you into a photo studio! That must have started my thing for pirates way back thenhttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r280/strmpt/PirateMc.jpg....

My brother Todd and I (I am the Toe Head) in the summer of 1967. We were in Rockport Mass, at my Grandma's house. The "1957" hats were from my dad's 10 year college reunion.

This is from one of my all time favorite shows.
I believe this was taken in 1994.
It was from the Jolly Holiday Christmas Show.

Not surprising since I grew up hearing I looked like my oldest sister, and Val grew up hearing she looks just like me. Comparing pictures of me and my sister and my DD and sister's DD when we are little could be hard to tell who is who except for the age differences.

My niece was always a little blonder than the three of us though. I'll never forget the day my parents were dropping Val off at my house after having spent the summer in Florida with them. They came driving down the street and I saw my niece in the car and was wondering why my parents went out of their way to pick up my niece the first day back (lived about 45 minutes away). As they pulled in the driveway I was shocked to discover my niece was actually my DD! Her hair had bleached out from the sun and swimming and my mom took her for a haircut which ended up looking like my nieces.

Here are a few more pictures from Val's first trip to WDW.

This is part of the old daytime sky & water show and even though not a great picture that scanned ever worse I thought it was cool for those that never saw the show.

Val meeting Minnie in Japan. For some reason back in those days there wasn't the long lines to meet and greet characters.
http://tagrel.com/photopost/data/500/minnie_val_japan_2.jpg

This was taken at King Stefan's Banquet Hall. I don't think they called it a Character Meal, so we were surprised when Cinderella showed up.

I don't watch the show, so no I can't imagine, but what the hey, embarrassment hasn't killed me yet. And believe me, its had more than enough opportunities of my own accord. The photochoppers are welcome to take their best shots. I'm not above laughing at myself.

You're cute and the puppies are adorable - were they your puppies? Names?

Here I am at a Civil War Event - this was taken around 1996

http://tagrel.com/photopost/data/500/028_28.JPG

This is my Great Grandmother - Anna Kelly - not sure how old she is in the photograph but I'm guessing maybe 17 or so. I'm going to guess the photo to be about 1885 making her born about 1868 right after the end of the Civil War (shucks wish I had photos of her parents also) - my guess is using my grandmother's birth year which was 1894 and her sister was born in 1888 and if my great grandmother were 20 when she married and this was when she was 17 - well there ya go lol.

http://tagrel.com/photopost/data/500/012_121.JPG

and this was taken of Tramp Scamp and Me at Cedar Creek Battlefield - Virgina around 1998 - I've looked at my great grandmother's photograph and these Civil War photos and others that I am in - including modern photos also of me - I see a resemblance :)

1961-62
Here I am getting my first haircut - I'm guessing I was 2 or maybe 3. As I got a bit older I had a scissors phase - can't believe I cut out the teddybear :( These two photos are before the haircut - the third photo is after - the curls are gone and the hair is pulled back on one side with the same barette I have in the photo but the hair is all straight :( - and I'm making the meanest frown - pout face ever - I must have hate it :lmbo: I do have the photo and when I find it I'll post it later.

On the hem of the dress in the front are appliqued daisies, bunnies, chicks, springtime scene. The dress is a pale yellow. Smoked bib collar.

Guess the photographer gave me a plastic ball to hold but not sure what was on it.

Wow I have a little slip on underneath - hardly wear them now.

My mom just informed me two minutes ago that it was Easter - probably 1962 which would put me at 2.9 years of age :)

Interestingly I don't care for yellow as I'm older but never knew why - maybe it has something to do with the first haircut :lmbo:

Yes indeed those plaid pants are cool! We could start a Plaid Pants Thread - I'll dig out my photo - funny, I loved my plaid pants too - they must have been the "thing" to wear at the time lol - don't get me digging for the photo of the Maxi Coat :lmbo: You look great - plaid pants and all - and I guess we all had the same cameras back then - most photos of that period have a haze over them and are the same shape ;)

Here's Scamp and Tramp at the Village of Smithfield, NJ - one of the many fairs they were always having -gosh feel like I lived at those arts and crafts - flea - etc. shows. We lived sort of nearby as I was growing up. They happened to have one while we were visiting my mom and dad - this was about 1990 - Scamp is 5 1/2 and Tramp was 39!! :yikes: Dang he looks young ;) Scamp had just started calling me "Mom" :wuv::wuv:

Here I am with my new son on the Cape May Beach right by the lighthouse - we were surf fishing also - he was six in this one. I was 31!!! :yikes:  I was teaching him how to make the pancake castles with the wet sand. We both loved how dripping the sand created the castles with intricate designs : ) Gosh we truly bonded that year - I loved introducing him to the "Shore" : )

My DH and I visited my brother today at his farm which is located on an island here in the PNW. He had told me a while back that our Mom had given him some old photos. Some photos I knew about and others were a surprise. He had some photo albums of our Dad prior to meeting our Mom. I had never seen any of these old photos of our Dad (neither had he).

What was exciting were photos from our one and only trip to Disneyland as children. There were not very many photos but what we had are special. I was seven and my brother four. Our trip was in April 1966. My Mom took the photos, so she was not in them. Below is a photo with my brother and our Dad. In the background is Skull Rock. The Dumbo ride now sits in this location. Neither my brother nor I recall seeing any of these photos from DLR. We knew we went there, but didn't remember much about this trip. Our Dad passed away a month later at the age of 44.

And another one, I'm guessing around 14 months. This is an extraction from a photo - I was sitting on a pillow in what looked like an empty room. I look like I'm laughing, but I was actually crying. Times like this I really wish Mom was here to tell me what was going on!

I spent last weekend at a siblings only (plus Stitch) family reunion at my sister's lake house (Norris Lake) in Tennessee. My oldest sister brought a box of old pix and I grabbed this one. I think it was taken at Bobbie's (oldest sister) engagement party. It is a rare picture in that it has my parents and all 7 of their children (and my soon to be (at that time) bil) in it.

L-R Donnie, Dad, Mom with me on her lap, Larry, Bobbie (in the back) Jay (in front), Ginny, Billy & soon to be bil Richie.
I apologize for the quality, but you should see what the original print looked like. It was incredably over exposed. This was the best I could do.

I found one! This pic brings back wonderful memories of my first meeting DH. He was home from college and reading the paper (Newsday) when he saw this pic of me and said to his sister "I want to meet this girl". Long story short we met the following week when he walked into work to apply for a PT job. We married in 1976:D

Alright, but only the short backstory. The pic was taken at my sisters house. Newsday was there doing a story about her house. I happened to be there to do laundry (no idea they were coming or I would've washed my hair) and they asked me to be in a few shots. Those clothes and that hair really were in style then:oops:

This was taken in 1952, I believe, and was my favorite hobby at that time. I loved control line flying and the plane was attached to a 55 ft control line. We estimated it traveled at around 70 miles per hour.

Found my first grade class picture. Actually, a former classmate had her brother scan it and post it. Seeing it reminded me that the two of us started first grade together at one school and then both moved and graduated together from another school. :D Since I am on the reunion committee for our reunion later this summer, I have been reconnecting and connecting with some people for the first time. I just found out that there is another person in the picture who graduated with us, too. :o Our graduating class was around 280 and our school was divided into East Hall and West Hall. The classes were divided in half when we entered high school and had all classes, lunch and study halls separate. Think twin schools within one building. We only were "mixed" for things like PE, Art, etc. So, lots of us never saw each other after we left junior high which explains why some of us are getting to know each other each time we have a reunion.

So, can any of my Tagrel friends guess which one is Sandy??? :girlears:

Typical Sunday School picture of the era. And how about the boots on your mom? I remember the moms, grandmas and aunts all wearing those! Of course I had to wear red ones over my shoes. :girlears: And of course they all wore hats to church. And gloves. :curtsy:

Nope, no more footies in the PJ's. I get too HOT!! You know those power surges that come with being a little older!! :)

I was laughing at them too. Notice my little legs are short so the footies point up like Pixie Shoes. It also looks like my Mom pulled the excess up on my legs at one point! :D

The high chair that I"m in, my mom kept it, refinished it and gave it to me about 20 years ago. My grandchildren used it. It was in my kitchen, usually with a cat sitting on it. Last summer I gave it to my nephew for his children to use and pass on.
