View Full Version : Another fireworks timing question

Seeing pixi's post made me think about our own dinner and fireworks combo.
We are having dinner at Chef Mickey's on our arrival night. I made the PS for 5:00, thinking that we probably wouldn't eat much during the day AND that MK fireworks would probably be at 7:00. We were going to eat dinner and then go elsewhere (outside the MK) to try and catch the fireworks. Well, the hours are showing that the fireworks are actually going to be at 8:45. What would you do?
1. Try to move the PS back a bit so there isn't such a big gap between our dinner and fireworks.
2. Keep the PS where it is and find something to do to kill a couple hours between the PS and the fireworks.
3. Keep the PS and skip fireworks - just go back to the hotel and
Also, where should we go to try to catch the fireworks, should we decide to do that? Stay at the Contemporary? Poly beach? Somewhere else? Thank you in advance for your opinions!! BTW...it's just two adults...DH and me. :joyDance:, if that makes a difference.

I'm thinking that if you keep your 5 pm PS, you could enjoy your meal, and then wander around the Contemporary a bit. It's now about 7 pm. Hop on the monorail, go to the Polynesian, enjoy a a lava flow on the 2nd floor of the Great Ceramonial house and then head out to the beach to find a spot for the Fireworks.
or
Move the PS back a bit and stay at the Contemporary and head to California Grill for some dessert and watch the fireworks from there.
or
Keep the PS and then head to MK to see Wishes up close!
I'm not much help am I?
I was thinking the same thing as Cheri; keep the PS, eat, wander, then head on over to the Poly. The beach there is a great place to watch the fireworks and they pipe in the sound from the show.
Have a great time!

Another vote for hopping on the monorail to the Polynesian! You could enjoy something fun :eat: at the lounge as Cheri mentioned. I'd also encourage you to simply stroll the grounds - talk about romance! The beautiful flowers, the palm trees, the tikis, the crazy tiki music, the torches -- it all adds up to :flowers: .
Out on the beaches, you'll find mini cabanas, lounge chairs, a couple hammocks, and a chair swing or two. A perfect spot for watching fireworks! If you're extra lucky, you'll get to see the Electrical Water Pageant out on the lagoon, too.
If all this sounds good to you and you've not visited the Polynesian before, I suggest you pop over to Deb Wills' site to become familiar with the resort's layout:

Happy deciding!

JennyAnne,
I would go to the Polynesian and watch them too. If you do get a chance there is nothing like watching Wishes from Main Street. We saw Wishes a few times from the Polynesian in January and it was great. When we saw them from Main Street I cried.

Thanks for the opinions guys! I think a trip to the Poly sounds right up our alley. Plus, anything that involves a fruity-umbrella drink gets points from me!
Also, thanks for the link Sandi. I have never been to the Poly so I should probably get myself acquainted with it before we step off the monorail into the dark.
We can't go to the park that day. Even though I have an AP, Jer will just have a PH and we don't want to burn a day just for that. We will, however, catch Wishes again later in the week (hopefully along with Spectro).
Thanks again for the advice!!

The Electrical Water Parade goes basically the same time every day without regard to the season, whereas the MK fireworks change around a great deal. I was lucky on my last visit to see the electrical parade at MK while walking to the bus after seeing the fireworks at 9 PM. Many people walking with me had no idea what they were seeing. I stood and watched while most ran to the bus. Hey! I'd rather stand and watch the parade than stand in the bus line.

Another idea, if you have enough time go over to Fort Wilderness for a bit and look around. It's not as glamorous as the Polynesian, but if you have young'uns they'd probably enjoy the playground for a bit as well as a look at the animals.
