Flickr has this fantastic tool: Blurb's Booksmart! It's free software that will help you layout your own book of photos! You then choose hardback or paperback, plus one of 4 styles, and it will be professionally printed. Book printing starts at $12.95.

I can think of so many things we can do with this!

Do a book of vacation photos! Or for a special event with your family and friends!
Do a MouseFest or Magic Meets book that they can sell to help towards costs!
Do one for Tagrel with us choosing some of the best ones and let Dave have the money towards the site and the great gifts he gives us at meets!I'll have to play around with the software, and see what it's like. Then check out the costs.

Updated: I just read more on the software: it can take posts from blogs and turn them into a book, including the photos and screenshots from videos! So when I get done my trip report on our vacation blog, I can do a book of it! I could make one up for us and one for my sister, Cathi!

I havne't seen this particular one, but a friend did one of our area on a mac. He did a hardbound book and it's really cool. Since seeing his, I've been thinking of doing one so I'll check out this software. Also, some nice specials are offered now and then.. You want to consider the page layouts, how many photos you can use etc... Thanks for reminding me!

I just started looking at it. It's my mom's 80th birthday this year, and I'm thinking of doing a book with photos and text throughout her life. I can get my aunt to tell me facts about their childhood, their parents, and grandparents. I had already suggested a trip with the three of us visiting their childhood home and town, and now I can grab photos and content for the book. I can maybe find other things online, like a shot from Google Earth of their town.

The hardback layout includes the dust jacket; I'm making notes now for what I'd put on the leafs. I'm picturing the front cover being one of the photos of her as a girl and then the title simply being:

DORIS

at the bottom of it. Then the one leaf can say how this is a celebration of her life by those who know her best and love her most as we look toward the future. I'm thinking of giving each person in the family one section. Their section would have a full page photo of them on the left and on the right, their name as the section header and a message from them to her. Plus a section of her with my dad and her with my stepfather, and his family getting a section each too, with the other chapters highlighting her as an individual.

Even though larger means bigger costs, we can divide that between us all and give her a very special present.

I'm also seriously thinking of doing one for our past trip. I have tons of photos, plus the trip report. Or a combination of all our trips: our own unique Disney coffee table book!
