My husband is a 100% diabled Vetran and we will be staying at Shades of Green this next summer. I was wondering if anyone else has stayed there in teh past?

Hmmm, you have me thinking here. My husband is 100% disabled, and is a veteran. 10% of his disability is VA related, not the entire thing. He gets all his medical care for free through the VA, including prescriptions. I wonder if we would qualify to stay at Shades of Green? I guess I will have to call today and ask.
I do know someone from the OLP forums who is staying there soon, within the next couple of months I think. I will watch for reports from her and let you know what she thinks of it.
Here is the web site that shows all the work being doe to rehab this resort. I bet it will be quite beautiful when completed. http://www.armymwr.com/shades/

I am a full time civilian employee of the Department of Defense and qualify for Shades of Green. While I have not stayed there before (they've been rehabbing the entire facility), I have stayed at the CR via them, gotten discounted tickets from them and booked my stay at the Poly 2 years ago through their overflow rates.

Francine they asked me if I have an ID card when I made my reservation and yes we do. If your husbnad is 100% Disbled maybe you have that too? I have Champ VA for medical and my husband has the VA. We also have commissary priveleges and Exchange priveledges.
Barb D - It sounds like you are more then eligible to use Shades of Green. If you go to their web site which someone provided you can get a detailed explanation of who is/is not eligible.
We stayed there for a week 4 years ago, it was great! We would walk to the monorail when we were going to MK and EPCOT since the Polynesian was across the street, the buses ran regularly and although I didn't get to use the pool, my family did and really enjoyed it (I opted for a nap!). We ate a large breakfast everyday in the restaurant there (for lunch we'd then eat light) and had 2 dinners there, the food was always good. From what I've read on their web site it looks like their changes will make it better. I hope you and anyone else who's going in the near future lets us know what it's like when you return from your trip.

I work for Veterans Affairs Canada and am really glad that WDW is offering this to Veterans and still serving members. They so deserve a break. I work on many files everyday including WW2, Korean War, Special Duty Areas and RCMP cases. My heart and my thanks goes out to these men and women who serve our country. So hats off to Disney for Shades of Green. (Too bad I couldn't qualify on compassionate grounds)
