Very interesting analysis of the evolution of extra magic hours at DLRP. I wonder if this will be true of WDW one day?

OK, so first, I'm feeling really cool and all that I can actually comment on this from experience.

When *I* was at DLRP ;) the crowds thinned out considerably early in the evening. There are no night parades or fireworks in the MK except in the summer and at Christmas. And although the lines were fairly long for some things, it wasn't too hard to get on everything, being there a couple of days. And everything is buttoned up for shopping food etc much more so than at WDW. So what is the incentive to stay late?

My guess would be that the onsite guest volume just isn't high enough to warrent the cost of running the park late. They only have 5 resorts. And DLRP is very strapped for cash.

Now WDW on the other hand - look at all the resorts they have - are we up to 22 now? One park open at night is mobbed.

It's just a different world, so to speak ;)

I too would agree, different cultures. I'm even surprises how much differs between Disneyland and WDW.

All the DLP resorts except the Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch (their version of FW) are walking distance to the parks. When the parks close, most guests walk through Downtown Disney to get back to their resorts.

(ETA again: It looks like their less expensive hotels are actually located behind the deluxe/moderate hotels.)

Picture the placement of the Disneyland Hotel at the end of DL's DTD, but instead of one hotel, you have the equivalent of the Epcot resorts ringed around a small man made lake.

Unlike DL or WDW, DLP is in a more northern climate. Think New England. This snow in the winter. That means depending on the season, temperatures can really drop at night.
