My family and I are are taking our first Disney Cruise in May and I was wondering what other fellow cruisers did with regards to getting to Cape Canaveral. We are sailing on a Sunday so the plan was to go down on Friday and spend Saturday at the KSC. To do this I believe we need a car. So my plan was to rent a car (for one-way use) in Orlando, drive to Cape Canaveral, use the car on Saturday and return it on Sunday (in Cape Canaveral) before the Cruise. Then we would only need to figure out a way back from the cruise to WDW because we are going to spend 5 days at the park. Does this sound like a good idea? Does anyone else have any suggestions? All help is appreciated.

Thanks,
SuJo :ariel:

Hi SuJo,

Congrats on the upcoming cruise. We have one booked for August 2005 and it seems like to will never get here. Our plans will be to book Quicksilver to take us to our resort before the cruise, then drive us to the Port, and then back to the airport after the cruise.

I've not used Quicksilver yet, but have them booked for this summers trip. I know many here have used Gregory and are very pleased with his services. There is a link to his site on the left side here.

If you want a rental for the time before the cruise, try Budget. They have a rental office right at the Raddison in the port. You can book one way travel from MCO to the port, use the car until the morning of the cruise, drop off passengers at the terminal, return the car, and then catch a shuttle back to the port.

Then, upon return, catch a shuttle from the port to the budget office, rent a car to MCO and head back!

Not as simple or convenient as having a towncar do the driving, but it DOES give you the flexibility of having your own car for a surprisingly reasonable price.

We did the same as Tagrel but we used Avis.
