View Full Version : Mystery Tour in WDW
I just joined Tagrel during Mousefest, I met so may wonderful posters before I joined I thought it would be the "Cool" thing to do.
Here is my question...On Thursday, leaving form Pop Century to Magic Kingdom for the MVMCP, the bus driver was telling us about a tour they offer that explores the unincorporated wilderness of the Disney property. She mentioned that the tour was about $20.00 included the transportation in a vehicle (Jeep I think) and was not part of any resort.
Now I know the CM's at the Pop are not the Best of the Best but the concierge had no idea on what I was talking about. She looked through all of the tours on her site and found nothing.
I won't go into the detail about the manager's horrendous behaviour that is another post.
Has anyone taken this Mystery Tour and how were they able to get it booked?

There is a Segway tour at FW, but I've never heard of an 'off roads' tour.
Here's AllEars' page on tours with a number you can call to inquire.

While some of the backstage tours visit some of the service buildings, and off roads tours would basically be a tour of Central Florida 'woods' and probably not very Disney specific.

Welcome and I have never heard of this tour, but I am still at the World and will ask around and see what I can find out and if I do hear of anything, I will post as soon as I know.
Thanks for all the replies. I am going to fire off a letter to WDW to see if they know anything about this tour. I'll update when they reply.

I wonder if they were referring to Disney's Wilderness Preserve? I thought they had actually closed it or sold/transferred it to someone else, but I found a link for it. It now only talks about hikes, but I thought previously they had the swamp buggies there (monster type jeeps) that they run in the Everglades. Maybe they kept part of the reserve and sold other parts that had the Swamp Buggy rides.

I also did a search for Swamp Buggy rides in the area and not far from there they do have the Boggy Creek Airboats and Swamp Buggy Rides. The Swamp Buggy rides are $20.95 for adults.
ETA - I just did another quick search and came up with a story about The Disney Swamp Buggy Rides in Disney's Wilderness Preserve. The article is from 2003. So I'm thinking sometime between then and now is when I'm remembering reading about the change. Here is the link to the story.

It sounds like a tour Darrell took this summer while attending a conference at Coronado Springs.
The went to the wetlands managed by the Nature Conservancy as mitigation property.
Here is the vehicle they rode in:

And a sign explaining the site:

No idea how one would book this though - when he registered for the conference it was listed as an option.

I'm going on this in January! We called about it for our September trip, but the water levels were too high , so they weren't running it. The person I spoke with specifically recommended winter as being a more pleasant time to do it.

It sounds fantastic! I would love to do it!!
I just did the Fort Wilderness Segway tour and loved it!!!!! :yahoo:And if WDWNJ and Big Red tell you that I was labeled as the tour's troublemaker, they're lying! :angelPlug:
(you make one segway go to sleep and the next thing you know, you're branded as trouble.....!)

Linda,
Can you give us more info on this wilderness tour? How did you find out about it? You'll have to do a trip report after you've been on it.
