This will be my fifth time going to Disney and I have never been to any of the water parks. My husband wants to go to one this year... only I don't know which one to go to. Here's a few things to consider:
1) We will only be able to go for about 4 hours since it will be on our departure date (plan to bring ziploc bags for our wet clothes)
2)My daughter will be 6 at the time we go
3) She can not swim
4) She does not like "scary" rides ... like flumes or big drops
5) She would do best with shallow or play-ground sprinkler-type places
6) She does love fish (whole room is decorated in it) -- (I heard one place has a shark tank?)
7) Where we go still needs to be somewhere my husband can have some fun.
8 ) Lastly...and most embarrassingly...I can't swim either and am also afraid of going down big water slides.
Any suggestions on a Water Park that has water rides that are a little more tame yet has enough to keep my husband happy?
Please help... this is the only part that I don't have planned yet!!

Typhoon Lagoon would be the best for the items you listed above. It is very relaxing. We love the "lazy creek" thing (for the life of me my mind just can't remember the name of it) It also seems a lot quieter here even when crowded because the areas are so well separated.

hi mitabelo,
I agree that Typhoon Lagoon would be wonderful for all three of you -- plenty of crazy slides for your husband and places for you and your daughter to enjoy, too.
My daughter and I spent a relaxed morning at Typhoon Lagoon on our last trip. We really enjoyed the lazy river thingie. We also played in the sand and in the shallow parts of the wave pool, and enjoyed a nice snack at the Leaning Palms.
Since your time there will be limited, I urge you to consider arriving at the park before it opens if it's possible for you to do that. You can also save a lot of time by having your swimsuits on (and your 1st coat of sunscreen) under your clothes.
Have fun deciding!

I third Typhoon Lagoon. It definitely sounds like the right place for you.
They have a wonderful children's area that your daughter will love. The lazy river is so nice and relaxing and you certainly don't have to know how to swim. The family raft ride is much, much tamer than the one at Blizzard Beach and I don't think she would be scared on it - it is very short. The wave pool is huge and you both could enjoy the waves at the shallow end while your husband ventures out into the deeper end. Also to the side of the wave pool is a shallow area for the kids to play in. Also lots of great sand areas to play in. I'm sure your DD won't want to do the snorkeling, but you can go underground and view the fish and maybe watch your DH snorkel by.

Absolutely, Typhoon Lagoon is the one!! You will love this place - it provides the best of excitement and relaxation. And, since your time is limited, be sure to heed Sandi's advice and go early, in your suits and ready for fun!! Enjoy!!
Ditto on what Lisa, Rosebud, Sandar, and Briar Rose have shared. I think Typhoon Lagoon will fill the ticket for you all. There is a ton of variety and enough to give the whole family what they are looking for. Of the two, it is our favorite WP to spend a down day in.
Have a great time!

Wow! Everyone is gonna be mad at me......I like Blizzard Beach!!!!
They have a fabulous childrens area here. Even though they have the slide rides as my children call them, there is still planty to do. The wave pool is fun even if you don't know how to swim.
That being said, the lazy river over at Typhoon is a blast.
I think you will have fun no matter which one you choose Maria!
Welcome, by the way to this site!

I too am a huge fan of Blizzard Beach (I'd rather go there than Epcot or AK) but think for your family Typhoon Lagoon is for you!! (even though I've never been to TL :? ). Blizzard Beach does have a great kids area and some smaller slides (and the family raft ride is hysterical- especially when you try to get out of the raft at the end) ((good thing there are no pictures from out last trip))!!
I do think your entire family will enjoy TL more though!!
