Yesterday I finished up the Cars quilt. It's for my step-daughter's new baby. Here are some pics.

I'm undecided about the label. It always has my name and the month/year I give it. But I'm unsure what else to put on it. All I can think of is "Jonathan's first Christmas".
I took a class last month on how to machine bind the quilt, so I used that technique on this one. It's not perfect, but I think it's more secure than hand binding.

It looks like a nice piece to me Rita. Lots of love went into it and it shows.

Oh, I love this, what great bright colors! I think "Jonathan's First Christmas" is a lovely thing for the label.
And the cat is awfully purrty.

And the cat is awfully purrty.
The cat is a pedigreed Maine Coon and his name is Indiana (named after Indiana Jones). He's a real treasure. He's almost eight months old and weights a whopping 11.4 pounds already. His father weighs in at 22 pounds, and we're hoping that Indy gets as large.

Wow! 22 pounds! I know Maine Coons run large and 8 months is still just a baby. So I bet he will be that big. His ruff already looks terrific. Indiana looks like a real sweetie.

I love the quilt. My oldest has a quilt made for him by his Nana and it is what he sleeps with every night. I know the baby will love it as well.

Wow, that is awesome... a sure keepsake!! I love the Rt 66 for the backing too! I just love quilts and have many my grandma made. They're probably worth some bucks but I use them anyway cause they remind me of her.

Lovely quilt! I've never quilted, but I'm a sewer so I know about the work involved!
I love Maine Coons, I have one right here! He's not pedigreed, but he's Maine born 'n bred and has all the important coon qualities including the personality and fur. I love coons, they are just the best kitties! Winston sends a big paws up to Indy!

I gave Indy the message and he sends a high five (he's not polydactyl) back to Winston.

Ohhhh! That is wonderful! Was your daughter 'blown away' by it at Christmas?

I wouldn't say she was "blown away" by it, but she did seem to appreciate it. She kept telling Jonathan to thank me for it.
She's pregnant again, due in mid-March. This time it's supposed to be a girl, so I'm planning a similar Disney Princess quilt. But I won't start the embroidery until the baby is actually born, just in case it's not a girl. If it's a boy, it will be a Monsters Inc. or Toy Story (or maybe The Incredibles) quilt.

You have a talent! I've always wished I had the time to do a quilt. Those are things kids can really treasure as they grow up. Better than a toy that will get tossed aside a year later.

My stepdaughter just gave birth to her second child on Tuesday. It's a girl, so I'll be making a Disney Princess quilt for Christmas.

I finished the princess quilt top yesterday. I still have to baste, quilt, and bind it before it's officially a quilt. I need to make a label too. Any suggestions which princess to put on the label?
My stepdaughter has only been to WDW, so Cinderella Castle is the only one she's seen. But I'm leaning toward my favorite princess, Aurora (Aurora and I have a long history together). But you may have a better idea. The fabric the label will be against is light blue with yellow, green, and blue stars.

Beautiful work on the quilt Ghost. Without a doubt it'll become a treasured family heirloom.

You really do such great work on your quilts. I would think Cinderella would be a perfect Princess to put on the label. :)

Someone suggested Mickey for the label, since it "all started with a mouse". I like that idea.
