Word on the street says that DVC pricing for SSR is going up to $95 per point (up from $89) per point on May 1st.

Yowch! Guess it must be selling quite well if they think they can raise the price $6 per point. ($11 actually, they were giving a $5 discounted price of $84 per point for quite some time).

If you are going to buy, do it before May! I think the resale market will be even more popular soon!

That's the kind of news that makes me so happy we got in when we did. Thanks for sharing Tagrel!

I hear that Joe! I thought the $70 and $75 we paid was a lot (and it WAS!), but $95  Wow!

That is what we paid when we joined, and I agree with you that it was a bunch! But going up to almost $100 a point would put it out of our league. I guess if we are going to add on, it is going to be through a re-sale for sure now. (And I was looking to pick up another 100 at OKW...just can't seem to have enough points...)

I'll never be able to add on at this rate. :( Gee, I was secretly wishing to add on at HH ( not so secret according to DH) and the Monorail DVC when ever it's built and it will be built. :winking:

Don't give up yet TG, the prices on the resales are still very affordable. And I too am waiting for the Monorail DVC to be announced. Alas, I think that my be a way off.

I finally did a "tour" of DVC when I was down w/kidlets piggybacking on Mike's conference... Had been looking into DVC for quite some time.. for at least 7 years now, I think.. almost as far back as when they still had the passes attached to OKW.. in between (about 5 yrs ago) we did stay for 2nights on a midweek point rental at OKW...
well, unf. w/our relative situation (my "DEAR"<not> inlaw/outlaws) too close by to WDW make any "dream" of investing in DVC a nightmare... no love between them and they always have a way of potentially ruining any "happiness" of a Disney vacation makes me leary of investing in DVC.. at least we've realized we can get the magic w/o the stress by going to the other coast... on tour the cost of points were $89 W/$5 discount and $10 discount if you sell back 1st years points... w/Feb. date... will be interesting to see what's going on w/SS.
Up till this trip we managed w/relatives.. now BOTH siblings are down too close to WDW to be... takes away from vacation time.

Hey there Owl, we kind of have the same situation. Cathy's brother lives over on Merritt Island, and is such a putz (she has stronger terms for him....). When we first started going down to the world, we let them know we were coming, but it was always us that had to drive over and see them. Then we stopped getting a car, and let them know when we would be at the World and if they wanted to see us they could come over. That lasted one trip and then they were too busy to make it. It was always incumbent on us to get over and see them. We have gotten to the point that we don't even let him know when we are headed down and it's not a problem. We have been doing this for several years now and our vacations are much more enjoyable.

Just a thought.....

They're TOO close.. Winter Park and now BIL in Orlando w/Mike's dad...
with their "new baby".. the sister.. we've learned to deal with.. and it had been 4 years since we went down last.. but the Bw/others.. that was the ringer.. and unf. father's next door.. they NEVER went to see our kids when the were born.. long story.. and they made a 'history" of it too.. SIL now expects my kids to be "loving" and such to grandfather who's been a "nothing" to them since day 1 (Alex's now 11 and realizes he "really" only had one grandpa.. my dad.. and Libby 7 1/2 is now tired of being ignored and calls it like it really is.. can't make hipocrites of them) This family has treated me as an outcast from before we were married and I'm kind of fed up... only come around when they "need" something from us.. like a place to stay before a wedding or showers...
We "may" eventually buy in but I think right now I"d err with renting ponts and see what happens.. now that Alex'll be in middle school soon our vacation time and options will be limited for a bit... we still cruise over the holidays...
