I posted a slideshow (requires Windows to run it) from my most recent trip. The slideshow is here (http://www.box.net/shared/static/4qd6ln4a6o.exe).

Mark,
Your pictures are fantastic. I'm going back and look at all of them.
Can you tell me what settings you use to get such great wishes and illuminations pictures?

Oh my gosh, Mark! It is one of the best I've ever seen.... Thanks so much - going back to watch again :D

The music makes it perfect - some (most!) of those photos sure would be a perfect desktop photo. Amazing. Amazing.

Mark,
Can you tell me what settings you use to get such great wishes and illuminations pictures?

The Wishes photos were shot at ISO 400 and f/11. The exposures were done on a bulb setting and varied between about 1/2 a second to about 4 seconds depending on the amount of fireworks and my whims. If I had to do it again, I'd lean more towards ISO 200 and f/8. That would work out to the same exposure level but with better noise and dynamic range characteristics.

The Illuminations shots were done at ISO 200 and f/8 with the later ones being at f/11. I think that I made the aperture switch to lower the exposure level of the shots because of the smoke. I was concerned that the fireworks were illuminating too much smoke and that the pictures would look better with a lower exposure level. As with the wishes shots, I used the bulb setting for the shutter speed and varied it between 1/2 second to about 4 seconds.

I don't have any particular science for fireworks shots. Pick an ISO that your camera performs well at. Use a tripod. Use the bulb setting. Start with f/8 as an aperture. Review after a few shots and adjust either the length of your exposures or your aperture to lower or increase your exposure levels. Mix it up a bit so that you'll have more to choose from when you get home.

The music used in the slideshow was "SpectroMagic Medley" performed by David Benoit. You can find it on Disney's Music From The Park (http://www.amazon.com/Disneys-Music-Park-Olivia-Newton-John/dp/B000001M3P/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-8380600-6942031?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1193593338&sr=8-1).

I put together the slideshow using Pictures2Exe (http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/index.html). I picked it several years ago after looking at all my options. There may well be better programs out there today. The thing that I liked about it was that it wrapped your JPG files rather than building a video stream. That meant that you could get much higher quality pictures in a much smaller file than you could generating a video. The downside is that you need a PC to play it rather than just burning it on a DVD. The upside is that you can easily share it online.

Others have said the pictures are fantastic and they are! I'm used to watching carefully the product of two professional photographers, so I know good stuff when I see it. Thanks for sharing the technical details, too.
