I was thinking about this while helping my sister choose a hotel. We have only ever stayed at Wyndham in DtD and we were not very thrilled with it.

Do any of you have experience with the Downtown Disney Hotels?
Do you have a favorite?
What are the rooms/resort like?
Is it worth the $$ savings?

Hi Suzy,

I personally have never stayed at a DD hotel, but I have heard great things about them. I think that the best thing for you to do is look at www.disneyworld.com and look at the hotels in the DD area and see what offers what you are looking for. According to the map of the resort area the DD hotels are:
Port Orleans - Riverside
Port Orleans - French Quarter
Old Key West
Eventually the new Saratoga Springs Resort will be here, but it is available yet. As far as prices go you can get all of this info one the disneyworld website. Port Orleans, FQ and R, are moderate resorts and Old Key West is a Home Away from Home.
I hope this helped.

We stayed at the Grosvenor last summer in the tower facing DD. While it was not "Disney" the view from our room made up for the lack of theming! Now, I wouldn't want to stay there in a non tower, non facing Disney room.

I've also been to a conference at the Double Tree. The lobby was very nice and I heard the people that stayed there say the rooms were nice.

The Courtyard by Marriott (which is now a Holiday Inn) is not bad. The rooms are clean and the service was good.
The Grand Cypress is very nice. The buffet there is excellent but pricey.
I agree with Lime Green Cheri on the Doubletree. Very nice lobby area and the rooms are clean and nice.
Another nice place although not at DD is the Caribe Royale. The pool is great, the food good, the prices are reasonable, and the rooms are clean and kept nice. The location is not bad either, just a couple blocks away.

I have stayed at both the Hilton and the Royal Plaza. I really wouldn't recommend either of them over the All Stars!
