hey everyone!
I am looking to book a room with the "room only" codes, but I haven't booked this way in a while. I want to do the *1 night deposit, pay balance upon check-in* like we've done in the past, but I don't know if that is still an option. Can you still request to book "room only" through CRO, or is that a thing of the past? WDTC deposit & cancellation rules stink :(
Thanks for the info!

Hay Belle yes you can.We just made ours today with the room only. You have 2 weeks too send in the deposit..Here is what I found on mousesavers.
When booking through WDTC, even a "room only" reservation is considered a "Basic Plan" package (because Disney will add on some kind of small "extra" such as mini-golf tickets) and is subject to the rules for packages:
You must pay a $200 deposit within 14 days of reserving your package.
Final payment of the entire remainder is due 45 days prior to check-in. You have to pay in full right away if you are booking less than 45 days in advance.
You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 45 days in advance. From 6 to 44 days in advance, there is a cancellation fee of $100. If you cancel 5 days or less in advance, you pay a $200 penalty.
Any changes that result in a rate change, such as applying a discount code, reducing number of days and/or changing to a differently-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.
Beware - WDTC usually adds nonrefundable travel insurance to your package by default. If you don't want it, tell them while you are making the reservation. Once you hang up, it's too late. You can add the insurance later if you wish, up until your final payment is due.

What a lot of rules! I'd forgotten that there were so many since becoming one of the legion of fans of YMJ!

I hear ya MissB, awful isn't it?
Thanks Disneylover :D I knew WDTC policies were just not worth the free round of golf, lol. We still have 2 golf tickets from our first trip we never used, along with 3 WW of Sports tix that we just gave away. I'd much rather have the convenience of 5 day cancellation and balance paid upon check-in.
Ok, I'll give it a try tomorrow and see how it goes.... wish me luck!

I think all the additional rules take some of the magic away if you think about it.
The old way was much better in my opinion.
