View Full Version : Blatant request to vote for Pegalong on Zazzle!
Tagrel

Zazzle is having a Talk Like a Pirate Day contest and I have entered Pegalong in a new design Frogman and I and Moley just finished tonight.
http://tagrel.com/images/tagalong/pp6_final1.jpg
We like it and if you do to please vote for it (just by rating it) or you can also leave comments. (They TOLD us to tell people, so this isn't cheating! ;) ) Zazzle picks the winner, its not purely by votes anyway...
There are lots of good entries, so if you like pirates, taking some time to look through the entries may be fun!
You can find the entry here: Pirate Pegalong Entry (http://www.zazzle.com/pirate_pegalong_shirt-235209979060706983?rf=238962644375090577)
Thanks!

I have cast my vote! Be sure to vote folks, another design already has nearly 200 votes!

I love it! "A sail for fish and ships"
I may have to buy the tee shirt!

Done.
I wish Zazzle didn't assume that all women want fitted shirts, or I would buy one. If I buy a fitted shirt big enough to be comfortable, then the sleeves go down to my knees!

I went to the page, but where do you vote?
Moley
09-16-2007, 09:37 AM
kathleena, you can get several styles and they run large and we have plus sizes available, for those who want to sleep in the shirts.
I found you can vote more than once and I'm sure others have discovered the same thing on those fellow contestants who aren't as good as us so they have to cheat. Not that I would advocate logging out, removing the Zazzle cookie and logging back in, but I'm sure that's how those 200 votes happened. Just saying.
Edited to add: Deb, you go to the top right of the page where the rating is. Be sure to click as far right to the star field as possible since the rating is registered fast.
Topaz
09-16-2007, 09:51 AM
Ok. I'm lost. I had to register. Then Zazzle said I already rated it. Don't remember doing that. Also can't seem to vote. What am I doing wrong?
Moley
09-16-2007, 09:58 AM
Topaz, you did already vote most likely, but they didn't 'count' it until you registered. The rating is up at the top right of the page.

It's not very clear were to vote. I poke all over including going back to the contest page. I didn't thing the comments were it. Then I realized you have to click on the rating stars.

Moely - I'm sorry I should have been more specific - I had been looking at the "fashion" collection and the raglan style shirts. It's not that there aren't any shirts that are bigger, but for everyday wear (I don't wear T shirts except for gardening) I'm just not finding anything.
Doesn't mean I don't like Pegalong! :D I was just thinking of something for Pirate Night on the cruise.....
Frogman
09-16-2007, 11:52 AM
If Pegalong doesn't come in the top 25 entries I will blame his lack of sex appeal. Johnny Depp ruined it for all the pudgy pirates.
It seems you can revote everyday as many of the shirts have comments that say "5 again today". I guess that is a bonus to getting an early entry. Oh well I think Zazzle picks anyhow.
I know I am sort of like the newbie but just wanted to let you know that your desing is absolutely fantastic!!! Good luck!

Thanks so much Izzy! That is very thoughtful of you to say! :peri: We love Tagalong in all his 'costumes' and personalities, but Pegalong is a personal favorite of mine!

I just went and cast my vote for Pegalong but there seems to be a difficulty. I really had to search to find him as a contestant through their links. The link on the front page leads to 80 tee shirts--and our Pegalong isn't one of them. But when I go to the "Enter the Contest" link and "View the Entries" he's the 2nd one in line :D
I do hope Zazzle chooses. They know quality when they see it (remembering when Tagalong was one of the best on his first day).

I know the deadline is today, when is the winner chosen?
MissBianca
09-17-2007, 01:53 AM
After the Contest Period, the Grand Prize winner and the Honorable Mention winners will be selected from the entry pool by a panel of judges within two (2) days after the Contest ends. The judges will be employees of Zazzle.com, Inc. The judges will evaluate each entry based upon the following criteria: a) thematic relevance; b) quality of image (clarity and composition); and c) creativity d) popularity of product (as determined by votes, ratings, comments page views and purchases). The decision of the judges will be final in all respects. Potential winners will be notified by e-mail on or about September 17, 2007, after the selection of the winner, and the potential winner will be announced on the Zazzle Blog and the Contest page at http://contests.zazzle.com.
Very quick!

I was able to vote again too. It must refresh daily.
If you're planning to purchase the shirt, today would be a good day to do it. :D

You aren't kidding MissB! I don't think I have EVER seen a contest be judged that fast online.
:xfingers:
ETA: There was one Zazzle member who pointed out that she didn't like all the new members commenting on Pegalong. For my own curiosity I checked out her designs. The first thing that came up was "my sister holding her donkey".
You can't make this stuff up.

I wonder if that little ass is the one that posted.
Barrie said to buy today. I was thinking of getting us two of these for our upcoming cruise. Do they go off sale after today?
Frogman
09-17-2007, 12:43 PM
No, they will not go off sale. Sales may influence the judges however. I think that is what Barrie is referring to.

Be nice you two! That is actually a NICE picture of her sister with a donkey.
I responded to her query - she may just figure its someone creating lots of accounts to drive up the comments. And if she cared to, it would be easy to go from THAT design, to our others and link back here. THEN you can explain to her in person why you are making fun of her sister's poor donkey! Where's my shame stick... :peri:

I wanted to add that I wonder if we will be seeing those postcards on e-bray anytime soon?

The funny part is that when I saw "Sister holding Donkey" I thought she meant sister as in nun. It wasn't until I read her comments I found out she meant literally her sister. I guess she probably started dressing that way as a kid and just got stuck in the habit.
Now I need to hide from the shame stick.

Another person is now ragging on us for having those boring user icons.
ETA: His gallery is funny too. He seems like a real "character". He has pro-war, pro-smoking, and semi racist stuff in his gallery. Not that you can't be ok with the war or smoke, but do you have to put it on a T-shirt that tells me I am wrong? People are fun.

Well, I tried to add an icon to my profile, but instead I think I just deleted my comment. I got nothin'.
I agree that the one poster probably thought someone was just making up bogus accounts to vote. Little did she know that we're just the shy reclusive types who don't like to make our presence known through such nonsense as pictures and avatars.

Love your reply Amy!
I updated my picture, it was very easy. I made my own instead of picking one of theirs.
You don't edit your old comments, you simply update your profile. Click My Zazzle at the top of the page, then member account, then member account on the left, then profile picture & icon. It will change your old comments, not just new ones.

Yeah, that site is a little quirky. My comment that was "lost" earlier is back now.
Again I say, "I got nothin'."
But hey, at least my icon is showing up now!
ETA: :lmbo: Brian!
Hmm, testy folks over there. Just 'cuz a bunch of new folks came in to support our mascot...geez. My original comment was a bit snippy, but I let consideration of the high road get the better of me.

That's right - product sales count in the selection process. I'm guessing sales will weigh fairly heavily too.

Well, unless someone WANTS the shirt, don't all go buying it....... Right now..... Don't.
:peri:
No really, don't! We're probably way too controversial to win now! )
But just in case....
Quick - Moley or Frogman or amymouse (or all three!) - buy a shirt, list it on ebay and write a funny story about said shirt. (Truth should be fine...)
You'll be famous, and all the good publicity will sell shirts! We'll win for SURE if you can do all this before TODAY when they pick a winner! :lmbo:

And exactly HOW is it fair to do this when they select the design the DAY AFTER they stop accepting entries?
Poor Pegalong was doomed not to win... Generic icons... sisters holding donkeys... vets.... Its all too much for a simple penguin pirate...
Notes to self for next pirate design contest....
Enter REALLY early
Ask members to add pictures to profiles.
Think up ideas now... something fun and catchy....How about Tagalong in all his 'costumes' with a Pegalong in the middle... We'll call them The Pillage People! :pirate:
or would that be The Pillage Penguins... nah... not as catchy!

Timon, don't go into comedy. Save yourself for singing. ;)
Tag, I love the Pillage People, too! I can see Frogman's artwork for that now.
I just finished ordering 3 Pegalong items. Zeus and I are going to use him as our costume aboard our Westerdam cruise. Halloween is also Zeus' birthday, so this year he gets a tshirt. Happy Birthday, honey! :flowers:

Yup, the winner is good, but is quite scary. Guess you have to IMAGINE the Pirate Talk that would come out of such a thing! ;) :pirate:
Without really understanding HOW they pick the winners, it really might come down to the preferences of the employee(s) doing the judging. Some of the honorable mentions surprise me too. There were other designs that I thought much more creative and/or artistic and/or amusing... (besides Pegalong! :peri:  )

Hold the bus! I completely forgot that it was the "TALK like a Pirate" contest. I must confess that is was that crazy looking tongue that gave me the willies with the winner's design, but I can't really have expected him to talk without one, now could I?
