in my opinions about the moderates? Everyone seems to love the POFQ and the CSR gets "lower" marks - and I feel totally the opposite! When we were at WDW in 2002, we stayed at the WL, which we loved and will definitely revisit on a future trip. Previously, we had tried all the moderates, and LOVED CSR - in fact, we are going back there, because my husband actually prefers it to WL!! There is something about the serentiy of the CSR mornings and the beauty of the lake with the buildings all nestled around it!! The pool can't be beat and we have never felt like it was a "business" resort (and I travel on a lot of business trips!!)
When we were in WDW in 2002, we visited the PO - both sides and it just seemed less serene than the CSR - more like an upgraded AS. Now I know that some of you are saying I am crazy - and I did not write this to debate our tastes!! I truly want to hear the reasons you all love the POFQ - (other than small size and boat to Disney). In other words, help me to love the POFQ more!!! I really like variety, so I would love to try this resort again, but I afraid I will be disappointed!! What am I missing??

Lisa you are not different, until last year I too preferred Coronado Springs to Port Orleans FQ. FQ was the very 1st onsite resort I ever stayed so it does hold a special place in my heart. Since that 1st visit we have only stayed there once mainly due to the fact my son outgrew the pool & I did not like the Food Court much. Now my son is older & not as interested in so much pool time, the Food Court has been remodeled & the rooms remodeled. I do love the size of the resort almost more than anything. Last year we stayed at Coronado Springs & took some Newbies that were just adamant that they were going to not like Disney so I wanted it to be so perfect. I had booked rooms months in advance, had guaranteed Connecting Rooms & asked for something fairly close to the Food Court. Now I know you can not be guaranteed but I do believe they put us as far away from the front of the Resort as possible. I was disappointed but got over that, however the Housekeeping this time was terrible & the Food Court just did not live up to prior visits either. CSR does have great bus service & usually the Food Court is unbeatable & I do love how it looks at night. Overall I do love all of the Moderates with the exception of CBR, I think I better give that one another chance.

Lisa,
We are with you we love CSR. We usually rent a car when we stay there so that makes a big difference. We love the peaceful environment and DH & DD love the pool. The only thing we don't like is the hike to the Market building but we learned early on to request a room close to the pool so that is not so far and we take the car to the main building not a big deal then!

in my opinions about the moderates?
Hey Lisa!
I'm in the same boat you are in! Although I have not stayed at the resorts you mentioned, CBR is my sentimental favorite. I know lots of people don't care for it because it is very spread out, but I didn't mind that at all! I find the resort bright, warm, and happy. On the other hand, although I haven't stayed there, I don't know that I would like POR (the mansions I might like, the bayou probably not). To me, it's just too rustic. BUT, I know many, many people RAVE about this resort. I will have to check it out on our upcoming trip.
I guess my point is that everyone (as you know!) has differing tastes. Sorry I can't help with any reasons to love POFQ, since I've never been there either! Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in your liking of an "less popular" resort. :D

Ok, ready for me? LOL
I will say my family's favorite moderate so far is the CRS, hands down with the WL being our so far deluxe favorite. It was a very tough decision for me as to which moderate to stay at for our first week this coming summer. Last year we were in the Cabanas section and it was absoluetly perfect. We were steps away from the pool, and a short walk to the Pepper Market. The view from the bridge (near the pool going towards the Pepper Market) has the most relaxing feel at night. I could stand there forever. The Pepper Market was the best food court we've ever been to, and we never had any trouble with buses.
What made our decision is that the CRS and WL are our two top choices for 2005 when we go with my sister and her family. With that in mind, we did not want to be tired of those two resosrts by then (if that makes any sense), and so we decided to try two new resorts for this summer. I am excited, yet a little nervous about trying two new resorts when we know what our favorites are like.
Our very first stay at Disney was at the CBR, which is absolutely beautiful. But it was the first trip we ever planned and had a local travel agent book it, so we over paid BIG time. The CBR is gorgeous, and I can remember the sound of the music at night as we swam at the quiet pool, so very relaxing. Our boys were younger and it was alot of walking for them to go over to the Port Royal, after a long day at the parks. We will stay there again someday, but first I'd like to try out some of the other resorts. One of my goals is to try each and every resort.

I can't believe it!! So far, I have found all of the other CSR lovers!! You know how you always wonder what you're missing?? Sometimes you just need to stick with what you know you love!! I am so happy to hear others talk highly about CSR - so many of the "boards" put it last in the moderates - even some of the guidebooks - yet when I am there, I truly feel transported to a happy place! Margaret mentioned the great bus service - it is true - the bus service, for me, even beat out the WL. Briar Rose, the car trick works for us too! I have been lucky enough to stay always in the Cabanas - close to the pool and the Pepper Market, so the distance has never been a problem for us. We did stay at CBR once and I loved the rooms, but wasn't enthralled by Old Port Royale - now that it has been refurbished, I would like to check that out again too.
Still interested in hearing the buzz on POFQ, but love the great responses "loving" CSR!!
