Hi guys!
I don't know whether this has been discussed elsewhere, but I was dismayed to learn that the only weekend we are at WDW is a Star Wars weekend. Being that we (I) are not Star Wars fans, should we totally avoid MGM on the last two days of our trip (a Friday and Saturday)? Are the crowds ridiculously unbearable? Just wondering because if so, I will plan to cover MGM thoroughly Monday - Thursday.
Also, I know that all events are held in MGM, but does this event affect other parks as well? I thought I was choosing a good time of year, now I'm hoping we're not walking into a mob scene.
Any personal experiences would be much appreciated!
Thanks!!

Hi JennyAnne! We were at WDW during Star Wars weekend last year, and we didn't have any problems. We actually went to MGM on Friday I believe.
It was actually pretty cool to see some of the SW characters out and about. If memory serves me correctly, they were pretty much only in the area back near Backlot Express and Star Tours. That area was more crowded with people lining up for pics.
Didn't find that this event caused any greater crowds at any of the other parks. With the Flower and Garden festival going on, and almost perfect weather...we found it a great time to visit. :D

Thank you AliciaG! Knowing how many Star Wars fans there are out there, I was picturing some kind of madhouse. It's a relief to hear from someone who has been there over one of the weekends! :D
Thanks again!!

Jenny Anne,
I agree with Alicia. We've done many trips during Star Wars Weekends and never experienced any problems. I do not have an interest in SW, but it was fun to see them. They are primarily in the Star Wars Ride area and they are in the Afternoon Parade.

I was there last year too. It was more crowded the day I was there but it wasn't because of Star Wars. It also happened to be Gay Days, and that was where the crowd was coming from. Like they said the Star Wars stuff was pretty much near Star Tours.
We did see the Star Wars Training Camp. That was really cute. They picked about 10 lucky little kids from the audience and had them train as Jedi and then they each got to practice what they learned against Darth Vader. Each kid got some little toy thing as they left the stage.
Besides that they had a few different scenes set up with some of the different characters for photo ops.
I also remember they had something else going on in the ABC theater but didn't see it and don't remember what it was.
I also agree with the above; we have been there on Star Wars weekends and it's no big deal. The real fans stay by the photo op lines and around the characters. Not much of a difference at all as I saw it.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences! I am definitely feeling much better now. :D
Den: Are you seriously dressing up? I tend to think not, because your countdown is still quite a ways off. BUT, if you don the Chewie costume (heck, or even an ewok) I would be honored to take a picture with you!! I, however, will not be in costume.
