From Screamscape:
Ratatouille Coaster - Rumor - (8/22/07) Screamscape sources have informed us that Walt Disney World (http://www.greatorlandodiscounts.com/) management has just approved the budget to fast-track construction of a new indoor spinning roller coaster based on the film Ratatouille. As rumored for the past few weeks, the ride system will be based on the coaster design used for Crush’s Coaster (http://www.rcdb.com/ig3306.htm) that just opened earlier this summer at Walt Disney Studios Paris. This is a customized varient of the Maurer-Sohne SC-2000 (http://www.maurer-soehne.de/en/amusement_rides.php?cat=s-coaster&sub=SC_2000) layout. The new coaster is expected to be placed in the Soundstage One area right next to Toy Story Mania and construction could start within the next six months.

Sounds good to me. They call those wild mouse coasters. I guess wild rat themeing makes sense.

That's going to be a 3rd thrill/spin and puke ride in MGM. :(
It would have made a great new dark ride ala Toad's Wild Ride.

Sorry Robin!!!! I know you don't do puke rides!!! I am hearing (from an inside source ;)) that there will be a few more new things coming to the Disney's Hollywood Theme Park! Somethings you may enjoy too Robin!!!:)

Oh goodie! An hopefully not 'just shows'. Except where there is already an auditorium.
I still think Ratatouille would have made an excellent dark ride. Dodging Skinner and his cleaver, falling spices, escape under a counter. How much detail can you take in on a wild mouse?
Pooh doesn't even feel like a true dark ride to me, and the others at WDW have limited appeal above the preschooler age group. DL still has Toad and the two story Alice ride.

Oh I hope they build this ride. MGM could use some new fun attractions.

Cool! This sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. Although I still wish there were plans for a suspended coaster attraction based on the closet door scene in Monsters Inc. I guess with the Laugh Floor attraction at MK Monsters Inc. based attractions are now covered.

If it's based on Crushes Coaster at WDS, then it won't be totally spinning. That ride has a non spinning part and the spinning part occurs at the end and is brief. They have the coaster part themed to the EAC ride. So conceivably, they could to a fairly tame "kitchen tour" and then you could get "caught" and "chased" around the kitchen in a Ratatouille Coaster (just dreaming here, no inside scoop on that) Here's a description:

Here's more stats on Crush's Coaster. http://www.ultimatecoaster.com/spring.asp?CID=786
The reviewer says it was more thrill ride than they expected.

I'm not sure if all the cars are laid out the same, but according the manufacturer the seats are back to back.
www.maurer-soehne.de/files/amusement/pdf/XPress_2003.pdf
From the link above on Crush's Coaster:
Arrangement: Riders are arranged 2 across, 4 seats per car sitting back-to-back for a total capacity of 32 riders.
That means people will be backwards for parts of the ride.

The ride vehicle for Toy Story Midway Mania is similar to these coaster rvs.

I just hope they go much slower.
I wonder that company designed the vehicles for Men in Black as they turn and spin by design.

I read a Disneyland Paris blog and they had a rumor on this last week. They'll be glad to know it will be a different theme from their coaster, which has apparently been quite popular. The photos show Crush's coaster to be very heavily themed, which I think is a good way for Disney to go. Some of the recent rides based on commercial designs have been insufficiently Disnified.
