DH and I are going to DisneyLand sometime in 2005. Which hotel do you prefer and why? This will be our first trip to DisneyLand.

Well I have never stayed there but after seeing Disney's Grand Californian on the Travel Channel that would be my choice. Absolutely awesome looking & how cool to walk out your resort into a Park!

I can only speak for the Paradise Pier. It was a very nice hotel with a beach theme throughout. It is about a 10 minute walk from the front gate to DL, and it has its' own entrance to CA. The restaurant was very good, with a character breakfast that featured Goofy, Minnie, Donald, and Max. All in all, a good experience. I would like to try the Grand Californian the next trip out just to see what the differences are.

I have stayed at Paradise Pier once, Best Western Park Place inn twice and another Hotel (I think it too was a Best Western who advertised walking distance but that was not fully true, it was near the convention Center and was a long 20 minute walk)

My personal favorite for view was Paradise pier (I have to agree Grand Californian would be even better if you can afford the extra indulgence) We had a view of the California Adventure park adn could even see the electrical parade form our window.

I have been to Park Place twice because its a better price and it has a pool and hot tub (A requirement for us is a hot tub sicne my husband has Muscular Dystrophy andit one of the few things that help him cope with all thet on your feet time) We paid about $100 a night and it includes breakfast. If you go to the little restaurant down stairs you get free pancakes (You pay extra for juice or meats if you want it) or you can go upstairs for fruit, juice, cereal, pastris, toast and bagles. Its right across the street from the main entrance for the parks. We prefer to not rely on any buses. Id say it takes about 5 minutes to walk in. Its closer to the entrance than the Disney Hotel but the Disney Hotel is closer to the monorail putting it closer in my opinion. (The monorail stops in Tomorrow land in Disneyland and not at the front gates like in Florida) Here is the site to the hotel we have used twice:

Also watch Mousesaver for Disneyland hotel savings. We got the Paradise pier for $99 a night through one of their specials. http://www.mousesavers.com/

I have never stayed on site at DL in nearly 40 years of going. We have stayed a different hotels through the years.

I am with Barb about Best Western Park Place and the one next door is Best Western Park Vue Inn. Both are very close to the main gates. They are older hotels, and are a little worn but have alway been clean. We also stayed at the Anaheim Hilton on one trip which was more than comfortable, clean and done very well - we got a great rate one year.

Jenine and I went to Disneyland for the first time a few years ago. We chose the Grand Californian. We got a great rate on concierge too, with a CA view. It was awesome!!! I will definitley stay there again. My only complaint was the LONG hallways. It was like a half mile walk to my room from the lobby. But that just helped burn off all of that food I ate at the concierge lounge;-) I have heard lots of great things about the Disneyland Hotel though. I really dont think you can go wrong with any of the three.

Have a great trip Donald:-)

The travel channel will be running the show on Grand California on the 22nd. I will have to watch the show. That way I can tell about one of the hotels.

Thanks for all the information.
