We've had a couple of long pet photo threads, and another recent one asking about them. Since we have this great photography board here, I thought that we could have an ongoing thread to post pictures of pets.

Here's the two prior threads I know about. Maybe there are more....

http://tagrel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14244&highlight=post+your+pet

http://tagrel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18572

So com'n in whenever you can and post updated photos of pets!

Hey Carol, that's pretty darn impressive that you get the dogs to sit for you like that.

Carol, I always love the pics of your dogs. My neighbor who lived next to the house I grew up in had a sheltie. Her name was Goldie. She was a great dog. I remember going over to their house and playing fetch with Goldie. I remember her being a very intelligent dog. The couple who owned her were an older retired couple. The husband had a trailer/wagon that attached to the back of his John Deer lawnmower. I remember he would attach it whenever he would mow the lawn, and Goldie would ride around in the back. Whenever I see pics of your dogs they remind me of Goldie.

Here are some pics of our kitties. They were all adopted from a local no kill shelter.

This is Jake. He was the first that we adopted. He is our skittish, electric shock surviving cat. He was about 6 months old when we adopted him. He is now almost 6 years old. We got his name from the cat in Disney's "The Cat From Outer Space".

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o179/Mel0311/Web%20media%20files/Cats/Jakeonblanket.jpg

This is Tee. He was the second one we adopted. He is our laidback, relaxed, easy going cat. He has a loud purr, and loves to be petted and sit on your lap. I believe he was just over a year when we adopted him. He is now 6 years old.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o179/Mel0311/Web%20media%20files/Cats/Teeonpost.jpg

This is Gabe. He was the third cat we adopted. He is our mischief maker and clown. He is very smart and curious. He loves to be held, and will "dance" when he gets excited. He was around 6 weeks old when we adopted him. He was bottle fed in a foster home before going to the shelter. He is now 3, almost 4, years old, and still acts very much like a kitten.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o179/Mel0311/Web%20media%20files/Cats/Gabeoutside.jpg

Finally, this is Spencer. He was the last cat we adopted. He is our beast. Our Maine Coon mix. He is nothing but 17lbs (he used to be 20!) of love and devotion. He is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he is great at giving affection. He likes to attack the cracks in our hardwood floor. One day I will get this on tape. He was about 3 years old when we adopted him (I think). He is now 6 years old. This is not the best pic of him.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o179/Mel0311/Web%20media%20files/Cats/Spenceroutside.jpg

All our cats are primarily indoor cats. When the weather is nice and I am out in the yard working, I will sometimes let Spencer out in the fenced in backyard with me. Gabe sometimes goes out, but on a leash. Jake and Tee aren't too interested in going out.
Here are some links to their Catster pages. I have more pics of them and info on there. It has been awhile since I have updated those pages. I need to do that sometime.

This is eBay. He is from a family of feral kittens that a gal I use to work with had rescued and raised. We had put down my beloved friend of 20 years, Oolong; two months before and our other cat was missing his companion terribly. People thought when we took this feral kitty in, that we would name him Simba. However, he just isn't a Simba at all. Why eBay? He came into our lives at the right time and for a good price.... (OK... he didn't cost us anything, but.... you get the idea....:)) Being a feral kitty he is not too keen on visitors and will hide until they leave, but he is a loving guy and good friend to....

http://tagrel.com/photopost/data/500/IMG_1297.JPG
...Koufax. This fellow was named after the Dodger pitcher, Sandy Koufax; so that my DH would think it was a good idea to take in this furry friend. He was rescued from an automotive junkyard by someone in the winter who couldn't stand the idea of this guy being out in the cold. She however, had seven cats of her own. Besides falling in love with this purr machine, we felt a need to rescue him from the household he was in... not a pretty site.
He is a big fan of the POTC movies and was hoping to try out for POTC III. To his dismay, Koufax did not receive a role in the movie ..

Alice is normally sits or sleeps under my feet, but when I leave bench, she takes where I sit, when I back, she jumps off, I just don't know why she does this,

This is my Scoodle (Scotty-Poodle), Pepper decked out in bat wings for Halloween (he was holding back his natural bat-like ears). Notice his huge smile? He was a hard-working therapy dog before the birth of my three year-old. I'm sure he was thinking he had landed a cool gig at the doggie Halloween party and was eating up all the attention.

These were taken about 2 weeks ago when I actually got a weekend off and we went camping.

This is Riley, All Around Dog. She is a Lab/Dobie cross. The most mellow, friendly mutt around.

http://tagrel.com/photopost/data/500/014.JPG

This is Sara, American Staffordshire Terrier. We kind of inherited her from our daughter who got her from a long time boyfriend who she later broke up with. By that time Sara was a part of the family.

http://tagrel.com/photopost/data/500/005.JPG

And this is Tuff, American Pit Bull Terrier. He is actually my daughter's dog. She got him when she was out on her own. She has moved back home now, and of course Tuff came too. He has managed to squirm his way into our hearts too.

Is he housebroken? What training method do you find that works best, maybe a rolled up newspaper???

Yes, he is housebroken, now. I remember the training and how I suffered from it. If memory serves me right there was a turtle involved, lots of crying, and a babysitter who had to call her mom.

I just noticed this thread. I don't have any normal pets, but I do have a whole fish tank full of killers! When I was away from Tagrels for so long, one of the things I was doing was building a new family room in my basement. I also decided to get back in the salt water fish hobby, so I built a large tank into the wall. These pictures are from the begining, so things have a changed a bit since then. I'll post some newer pics soon.

Here is two pics, one of my Clown Trigger fish and the smaller one is a Titan Trigger fish. They are about as mean as they come. The clown has bitten my finger twice now. He also spits water at me from the top of the tank if I tease him with food. Its pretty funny. I feed them live fish as well as frozen shrimp and krill. I also have a cool dragon moray eel and a venomous Lion fish.:cool: You see a pattern here?? ;-)

He's now almost 16 lbs. We keep asking him what he did with our 3lb pug puppy, but he doesn't answer. :)

And, in case you're wondering, he is named after Woody from Toy Story. Our next pug is already named. If it's a girl it's Jesse and more likely it will be another boy: Bullseye.

Yes that is a Mickey collar, and yes, it's on the last notch. Sometimes I'm not sure if he's not part moose...especially when I'm laying on the couch and he decides to come up and give me kisses. It's worse when Marcie decides to join him.

This is Geckie and he's a brown anole, but he looks a bit red/translucent to me.

He found his way in one day, and appears to have no interest in leaving. Usually he'll come sit in the same room as me, such as the dining area. Yesterday he surprised me by showing up in on the breakfast nook by the sink. I found out he prefers drops of water, so after dripping a few drops near him, I spotted him coming out for a drink.

He's also taken to sitting about 3 feet from me at the computer and pretending I don't see him.

Of course when he does sneak up on me, we both end up jumping. I have an aversion to reptiles and he has an aversion to humans. He also hates the camera flash.

One the kitchen curtain behind my monitor.

I didn't want to scare him with the flash. He's sitting about 3 feet from me at the computer watching me. To give you an idea how small he is, the black is simply writing with a Sharpie.

My gosh, Robin, you are BRAVE!! I'd be scared out of my wits!!!

I was visiting a friend in Bradenton when one came running into her house - she was calm as could be and said they come in now and then. Eventually she finds them (after their deimse) under her bed or some such place.

She calls each one "Charlie" and does not mind if they roam the house. :)

Robin

Geckie is smaller than most I see outside. I do fear his getting full size, which is still small. I should have named him possum as he thinks if he plays possum I won't see him. I guess he has less predators in here, and has the run of the place.

kathleena
11-25-2007, 11:47 PM
OK, so maybe more than you want to know, but this is from wiki. Note the item in red. Also note you could get him a tank. of course, then you would have to feed him spiders - ickkkkkkkkk

Description
The Brown Anole (also called Bahaman Anole in many pet stores) is a slender lizard reaching about 18cm in length. Males and females differ somewhat in coloration: males have a dark stripe down their backs, females a light stripe. The mature males weigh about twice that of females. As in other anoles, the male has a brightly colored throat fan, called a dewlap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewlap), which is yellow or reddish-orange. They are territorial and the dewlap is used in territorial displays. Anoles have expanded toe pads that allow them to cling to smooth surfaces.

Behavior

Unlike the green anole which prefers foliage, the brown anole often scampers around on the ground. They are athletic creatures that run surprisingly fast, and jump many times their length. The brown anole gets used to humans and can often be studied at close range.

Molting

Both the brown anole and the green anole molt (shed). But unlike a snake, they do not shed in one piece but in flakes, some quite large. The molting anole grooms itself and eats the flakes.

Reproduction

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/Anolis_sagrei_femelle.JPG/250px-Anolis_sagrei_femelle.JPG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Anolis_sagrei_femelle.JPG)
Female brown anole

Females generally deposit a single egg in leaf litter about every week or two during their reproductive season, which is year-round in many tropical locations.
The eggs are about 1 centimeter in diameter. They are an off-white color and hatch in about 3 to 4 weeks.

Tank Mates

Brown anoles are compatible with green anoles and long tailed lizards, though no more than one male should be in one terrarium. Brown anoles can also be compatible with Fire Bellied Toads, green tree frogs, and small geckos.

Food
The brown anole feeds on insects such as crickets, grasshoppers, roaches, spiders, mealworms, waxworms, and may eat others lizards if they are small enough. They will also usually eat their molted skin.

Robin
11-26-2007, 12:48 AM
I can't tell if he's greenish brown, or brownish green. His tiny tail is red and he's got huge eyes. Huge for his size.

He's shown interest in my new plants and likes to hang on solid surfaces. And curtains.

I figure this is Florida and I'm sure he'll find 'something' to eat. Possibly smaller than I can see. I am NOT buying bugs. Eww. I do keep leaving the window up during the day in case he wants to get out.

He's the third anole to get into the apartment. One I shoo'd out the door and the other went out the window. He seems content to stay.

Right now he's insisting on sitting on the overhang of the cabinet under the sink. So much for me loading the dishwasher, as I don't want to purpose scare him. I also don't want him to run across my feet causing me to let out an ear piercing shriek.

It's December so I thought I'd add a holiday themed pet photo. :mrgreenSanta:

Here's my angel-kitty Dexter "helping me" wrap gifts in 2001. Ah yes, Dexter also loved to make the holidays more festive by dining on the ribbon just to make sure the litter box was looking festive, too. Yeah, I think that may be what I miss the most.

Oh, and please pardon what looks like the need to vacuum my carpet. While I'll never profess to being the best housekeeper. This time that isn't bad housekeeping, but a case of forgetting to dust off the print before scanning it.

ROFL, Amy, we've had cats that loved to eat ribbon too. But the worst was one who ate those silver plastic icicle things that you'd hang on the tree. Oh, she loved them. I hope this is not too graphic but whole icicles were too long to be eliminated in one, er, go. EEEEWWWW

Robin, I think Geckie is adorable and he seems quite sociable for a lizard. What a quiet, tidy companion he is! And smart, for choosing you :)

Aw, Carol, that's a gorgeous shot!!

Yes, I have two - one is just never enough  Gracie, the little one at 5 lbs, is our puppymill rescue (I named her Grace becasue it means soemthing about belpved of God) - she spent 13 horrendous years as a breeder, doing nothing else, every time she could possibly be bred. She gave birth 3 days after she was rescued!

Grace has no teeth and is missing half her lower jaw. Although she is about 14, she does not seem old at all. Amazingly, she loves to play with toys - even tho she never saw or had one before she was rescued!

She is probably the sweetest furbaby I've ever loved - she adores Jackie , our larger Maltese. When Gracie sees Jackie first thing each morning, she runs along side her, brushing against her in the sweetest way.

Jackie is 12 (came with that name), was born in South Africa and travelled extensively before her "family" decided when they were moving from NH to Seattle that they did not want to take her! Can you imagine? She was 7 at the time and they were going to leave her in the street!

I volunteered with Maltese rescue and she came to us as a foster - we knew pretty quick she had found her forever home. She is wonderful and another incredibly sweet personality.

Sorry to go on, but I can rarely resist the chance to tell their stories. :)

Wish I could get some photos half as cute as Zak and Zoe!!

I took her in this morning to have a very large growth, as big as a grapefruit, removed from her shoulder/neck area. We biopsied it and it is not cancer, so it should be OK - I didn't sleep at all last night tossing and turning over operating on her at her age.

This is a short video of Alice after walk with my DH Mamoru.
Somehow, Alice dislikes or annoyed the way Mamoru wipes her muzzle (?), so she snarls a bit. When I do this, she sometimes does this just a little bit. It's so funny to hear she speaks (sounds like she's doing so to me) when Mamoru wipes her paws and so. LOL.

As I sit here surrounded by 3 dogs snoozing on the bed, I have to laugh too! Try telling these three that *GASP* some dogs actually sleep on the floor!

Clarence usually only gets to go outside if he foils my human roadblock routine at the door. But I couldn't resist seeing what the snowball cat would look like on the snow. So I "accidentally" let him slip past - camera in hand, of course.

In honor of Valentine's Day I thought I would share some pictures of our youngest, Mona. As you will see from the pictures she has a heart shaped spot on her side much like the Hidden Mickey on Minnie Moo. There is just one catch. I think this is the only heart Mona has as she is not very lovable and moans everytime you touch her. You can see how happy she is to have her picture taken.

All my life growing up I wanted a sheltie but never got one. After our lab, Cody, passed on we decided to go animal free for a while. Then we saw the picture of Della on one of our local news stations and just knew we had to go rescue her from the local SPCA. She has been a wonderful addition to our family.

Hi - Depending on your phone type, service and plan, you should be able to send your pictures to your PC using your email address. While you are viewing the picture you should be able to access a menu that will have the choice of "send in a message". Select that option and put your email address instead of a phone number in the "To" line.

Hope this helps.

The family excited to see mom. She was a blue-grey that definitely had some Siamese in her. Dad was the neighborhood male and whenever I say he was a long haired calico no one believes me... (Since they are either impossible or incredibly rare...) But he was and the sisters look JUST like him.

Love all the fur baby photos! How warmly and wonderfully they enhance our lives eh?

Recently I did some digi scrapping of my furrballs for a marathon scrapping competition I'm in (so is ChrisR) Here are my babes.

Herc has been my baby for nearly 7 years now. He's rough and tough but such a "Mama's Boy" Pain has definately claimed me too, especially since my surgery. She barely leaves me alone and while I was pretty much confined to my chair, even at night, she was my constant lap warmer. Panic checks in and claims lap space when Pain allows her, but spends more time with both of my boys or in some hidey hole in the house all on her own.

I've added a photo of the real Clarence instead of his body/stunt double (those Hollywood-types, you know) that provides honest evidence that he may, indeed, have a beer-butt.

Yes, much more appropriate . . . now the dogs won't be happy until we find the real thing!

They are very demanding sometimes!

Don't you love that look? Of course, they can wake us up whenever they want, but try to disturb one of their naps for something trivial like, oh I don't know, making room for yourself in the bed? :D

I took this one this evening. My niece Haley is holding her Cody and that is our Sammy next to her. These two brothers are very different. Cody is heavier and has a ton of fur, while Sammy is skinny and has half the fur. I like to call him our naked Mole rat. Cody is spending the night this evening, as both puppies are going in to get fixed tomorrow bright and early and our vet is right down my street.
