Well, I got to talk to Chandler, a very friendly CM today to make our PS for our first night at WDW. Being able to call made our trip feel very real! I had limited the choices down for DH (so it wasn't too overwhelming) but he didn't choose my restaurant. I wanted 'Ohanas, but he picked Chef Mickey's. In the words of an almost 29 year old, "I wanna see Mickey." How can you argue with that? It's his first trip...I want to make sure we're doing things that he will like. I didn't tell him that he didn't pick my first choice.
I hope we have an OK dinner here...I have read very mixed reviews. I made it for an early dinner (5:00) because I figured with getting in that day and the craziness of checking in, we probably won't have time to eat a sit-down lunch.
I was hoping to eat dinner and then get a drink and/or watch the fireworks from either there or Poly.
And I'm still going to try to fit in 'Ohana later in the week.

Jenny Anne,
You will like Chef Mickey's. We've done it for breakfast and dinner and always enjoy it there. I cannot blame your husband for wanting to eat with the "mouse". I must say though, we had a chance to eat at O'Hana's last May, and we absolutely loved it there. Had a table right by the window overlooking the lagoon. The view was breathtaking. Hope you can squeeze this in too. You won't be disappointed.

We LOVE doing Chef Mickey's on our first night in WDW. It really gets you in that Disney mood, and seeing the main Mouse is ALWAYS good! :)
And *I* happen to love Ohanas - so I agree with your plan to fit that in later in the week! Sounds like a win-win!

I think that is a great choice for first night fun. Don't forget to ride the monorail into Epcot at night just to see the lights. Have fun!

Yes I definitely second what Moley said - ride the Monorail to Epcot at night. Even better if you can get the front seat. Chef Mickey's is such a fun place to be for your first night & do try to sneak in 'Ohana's. It's great!

Jenny,
You gotta love that Jeremy wants to see the Mouse first thing! Chef Mickeys was great, and perfect for our first night when we went in 2002 with my sister and her family. It's loud, but certainly gets you into the disney magic mood.
Now, I agree with Moley and Margaret about taking the time to ride the monorail after dinner. But wanted to add, if you have the time get off at the other resorts and walk around a bit. We did this and really enjoyed seeing the other resorts, and of course my favorite thing to do...SHOP!
Then you can see where Ohana's is and mention to Jeremy you'd like to dine there one night. I have to say my family LOVED Ohana's !
You're gonna have a great time!

Thank you guys!! You have made me feel much better about this. When I gave him the list last night, I had narrowed it down to Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, and 'Ohanas. Honestly, Chef Mickey's was my last choice out of the three. But your comments are making me feel like we will still have a spirited, enjoyable dinner (with good food!!) and have an enjoyable kickoff to our long-awaited vacation.
I appreciate hearing about everyone's experiences!! :D

JennyAnne, I am so excited for you and for Jeremy! I think this is a great choice for the first night. If I may add one more suggestion, you could try to catch the Electrical Water Parade (the beach at the Poly is the best spot).
I agree with Moley--you don't even have to get off the Monorail. Just ride it once around Epcot--and be sure to sit on the right side of the car for the best view of Spaceship Earth!

Thank you Miss B!! :D You're too sweet!! It is so funny that you mention sitting on the right hand side of the monorail...I was going to post tonight and ask which side is the better of the two.
You all are so helpful and supportive...I look forward to picking your brains for all kinds of tips between now and then!
