Okay venting needed. Rough night at the above locale tonight. We arrived 25 minutes prior to our appointed priority seating. We were then promptly told we would not be allowed to check-in until 10 mintues prior to our PS, which was 7:50p. Okay no big deal we walked around the stores for 15 minutes and sat on a bench and people watched! We checked in at the podium for the second time. We were handed a beeper flashy thingy. Then told it would be about 20 minutes before they would be able to seat us. Carla was a not very nice hostess. Remember this name very important. At 8:30p, I sent my very sweet DH to the podium to check on our seat. They said 5 minutes, they were cleaning a table for us. Okay good they haven't forgotten us. Well 20 minutes later we walked back up to the podium and asked again. They called us by our beeper number 93. "Oh your 93, let me check on that" The very nice man at the counter this time, kindly pages Simon the seat finder guy. Out they come with about 15 minutes later. We were seated by the kitchen door. The couple we were waiting with was seated about 5 minutes after us. They got a great seat by the window. They sat down and the waitress came by an got their order. We WAITED and WAITED. By this time it is 5 minutes til 9. Our waitress came by. Claire took our drink and food order rushed DH didn't even look at the menu. The fireworks began. We went to stand outside because we couldn't see. The other couple followed us out because the people on the patio were blocking their view. A waitress came by and told me "to move." Exact words. I moved over. About two minutes into the fireworks, CARLA came out and told me I had to move I couldn't be there. I asked where to go she said to ask my server. HMMMM. problem since we had seen her once. I said you made me wait over an hour for a table and now you tell me I can't watch the fireworks. I asked to speak to the manager. We went back in to the table. No drinks but the other couples drinks and bread were at theirs. My DH and I looked at each other and said we were not paying to eat here. Just as we got to leave the manager walked past me. I said we are leaving. He followed us out to the door. My sweet DH was angry. He stopped and talked to the manager. I walked off so I don't know the exchange but DH came to me and said our meal comped. We went back in and sat down. Here comes Claire with our mushroom soup. Then about 5 minutes later our drinks arrived. 20 minutes here comes the steak which I ordered med well. Can we all say RARE is how it arrived. Not once did Claire check to see if the steak was done correctly. I just sat there. When she came to take our plates she said have a good night and so we left. That was it. We, of course will never be eating there again.
Thank you for letting me vent. DH rarely gets mad and he was furious with the whole situation!
So now I will put this behind and enjoy the rest of our lovely vacation/business trip.

I'm so sorry you had a disappointing experience there, Briar Rose. I really do hope you enjoy the rest of the trip.

Ugh, nothing worse than bad service that just continues through the whole experience! :( If they had just told you the wait would be an hour, you most probably would have eatten elsewhere, and been able to enjoy Illuminations! So frustrating!
I think you have it right though. Put it in the past, and enjoy the rest of your trip! :)

I am sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience at the Rose and Crown. It does get very frustrating and I understand completely what you went through.
Unfortunatly on our 2002 trip we had much the same experience.
We were placed by the Kitchen in front of what I believe was a fireplace.
The service was horrible and we felt like we were out on route 95. The servers constantly kept hitting our table as they went by and two actually got into a dispute in front of our table and spilled my water.
We complained through a letter to Guest services and they did reply to us.
We still maintain we will never return there.
That was always one of my favorite places to eat.

Frustrating would seem like an understatement!
:tink: Sending you some good dinning experience dust for the rest of your trip

I hope you have a good rest of the trip Briar Rose!! I agree with Betsyann, frustrating is an understatment. I've had this same kind of service at another Disney resturant. I swear I had "Please give me the crappiest waiter you have" written on my forehead. Pixie dust to have better service from here on out! :tink:

What a shame to get such lousy service. You must have a lot more patience than me! I hope your DH mentioned Carla the hostess to the manager! Hope the rest of your stay is better!

Thank you all for the PD! We are now safely home. I have to say LeCellier made up for that horrible experience 20 times over. So to say the trip was a wonderful success is true. Now I can't wait for our Disney Cruise for our 10 year anniv. in October

BriarRose - I am so sorry for your experience and so glad that you had a good one at Le Cellier!! We were thinking of trying the Rose and Crown Illuminations thing, but were not sure about the food - now I am sure - we will watch Illuminations from a vantage point in the park - and eat based on the recommended quality of the food, not the view!! Thanks for posting an honest "complaint" - it's important to hear the good and the bad!!

Hi Lisa!
One of the best places to view Illuminations is over by Canada (where LeCellier happens to be! IMO, the food is much better here as well!

Linda, that sounds like a plan!! We will work that into our itinerary!! Thanks.
I'm sorry for your bad experience - you are much kinder than we would have been - after waiting and then the others get the better table and drinks first - we would have left then - hope the rest of the vacation turns out better than that restaurant experience!

Just a suggestion for if this ever happens to anyone else. If you don't get satisfaction from the manager, please stop by guest relations on your way out and let them know what happened. It does help and sometimes they seem to take the complaints more seriously than the actual manager does.
BriarRose, I know you said you are back now, but you might want to take the time to drop Disney a quick letter to let them know the service wasn't up to par and that the manager did a poor job of following up. In my opinion, the manager should have checked back with you to make sure that everything was alright. Disney can not correct the problems with staff training if they don't know where they are.
Glad to hear that your meal at Le Cellier made up for the bad experience.

Boy, that sounds like a truly rotten experience. There's not much worse than having one bad thing after another happen. You can't even enjoy your meal after being treated like that. I'm glad to hear you at least got your meal comped.
This is such a shame, as we've had two wonderful dining experiences there. Both times we got great front row seats for Illuminations and very good service. So sorry yours was such a disaster.

I am really sorry to hear about your aweful experience.
If I were you I would write a letter to Disney regarding your experience. I am not sure if it will help any, but what happened to you was more than just an off night. It was bad service coupled with rudeness, and there is no need for that at WDW or anywhere.
I do hope that the rest of your trip was fantabulous!
