DH and I will be taking our DD to MNSSHP in October. We plan to stay at the Contemporary. What were your likes and dislikes of the Contemporary. And were you in a wing or tower? And what view did you have?
The two times we stayed at the Contemporary, we stayed in the tower. Had a great view of Bay lake and the fireworks over the MK. We really liked the availablility of everything right there. It was just a skip down to the concourse level to eat, shop, browse, shop, get to the monorail, and shop. Even quick food was just down two levels at the snack bar. It was a very convenient way to stay. And a very short walk to the MK if you didn't want to use the monorail.

To be honest Contemporary was never on my list of I just have to stay there resort. That was until I got to see the room of my buddy EJ4Disney. Oh my gosh I would love to have that room! It was Tower upper floor right in the center with a perfect view of the Castle. You could lie on the bed & see the castle changing colors each night. The rooms are futuristic looking of course but very large. The other room I got to see was in the South Wing section, I believe, when Dr.Babe stayed. there. It had a great view of the lake but was a far distance to walk it seemed. Maybe it was just because it was the first time I had ever been to the wings, just thought it seemed far. I would love to have the Monorail right in the middle of my resort, love all the shopping & restaurants.
Oh yes, and did I mention the shopping? You can do lots of shopping there.....

I hope we can stay in a tower room when we go. That will depend on how much we have in our Disney account. And what kind of deal Jean with Your Magical Journeys can work up. The one thing about the Contemporary they have great dining options and very good shopping. :D

My first trip ever to WDW we stayed at the Contemporary. We had a North wing, facing Magic Kingdom 3rd level. We could see fireworks from our room.
The down side. This was 1998 so it may be different today but our bathroom was very aged, you know how dirt gathers in tight corners and it looked very aged. Also we had a problem with ants but they came in and sprayed for us.
I would stay there again if I had to. We have discovered the Beach Club so we stayed there the last two trips.

When we stayed there in december we were in the North Wing in room 7107. We were facing the lake and could see the Electric Water Pagent right from our room. In 2001 we were in 7304 which was actually a little closer to the tower, again in the North Wing. We were very close to the tower and could pop out the door and right into the rear entrance of the Fun & Food. It was very convenient for us.

Thanks for giving me an idea of where to stay if we do stay in a wing instead of the tower.

We just left a very nice room on the third floor of the South wing. It wasn't the best view in the world but it was a very short walk to the pool and tower. On the last day I discovered sitting on the sofa/daybed was a great view of the monorail comings and goings. Very pleasant morning sitting with the door open watching.
Overall though I would have preferred a balcony room in the tower but oh well live and learn.

Hi Donald Duck,
The Contemporary is my all time favorite Resort. I am sort of new to this board, but an old timer of Disney. This site will be home now.
The Contemporary is very convient to the Magic Kingdom. You can walk to the MK or take the Mopnorail to Epcot and TTC to other parks. We have always stayed in the Tower/Concierge facing the castle. It is truly awsome. The wing rooms are very nice also. I know there are a few who do NOT like the Contemporary but for me and my gang we love it. If you have any specific questions I could help you with please e-mail me and I would be more that happy to help.
I am sure what ever you decide you will have a great time making wonderful memories.
